Swelling in Armpit

by LMM2008, Nov 21, 2008 01:47PM
I am due to go in next week and have a lump removed from my right armpit. It sticks out about the size of a half plum. I am concerned about what the doctors think it may be. My primary says she thinks it may be a Lipoma and the surgeon didn't really say, just that he will put me under and remove it, then biopsy it.
I do not shave with a razor. I use Nair, so I can't imagine it being caused by that. I'm not sure how long it has been there because it does not hurt. You can see the swelling when I lift my arm and it seems to be soft to the touch, but almost fits in the palm of my hand. Any ideas what could be causing this? If it is just swollen lymph nodes, do they really remove it to test it? And if so what kind of recovery will that be?
I guess I am just a little scared about what they may say. In the last two years I have had skin cancer twice and the last one didn't even look like skin cancer which they almost past it by. Any advuce or opinions would be great.
