Very sore throat

This discussion is related to Hacking cough, sore throat... No ideas! .
A few days ago i went to bed and woke up with an extremely sore throat and a bad headache.
I have been coughing dry coughs and i have been coughing up phlegm.
I wen to my school nurse today and she said that i had a low grede fever of 99.7...so i went home.
I went to soccer tryouts yesterday and we ran for about 2 miles...my throat was slightly sore but as soon as i stopped, i started retching and felling like i was going to vomit. (I am not going to tryout now)
I find temporary relief for about 20 seconds when i drink water...I have taken some hard cough drops and i have drunk some orange juice...
I am 14 years old
I have never had anything like this before and it is incredebly hard to sleep...
Please can you tell me what is wrong and how i might be able to overcome it faster???
