Woke up with joint pain and stiffness

by daniellika, Nov 07, 2009 06:23PM
I am a 22 yr old female and this morning I woke up and had severe stiffness and pain in my hands and fingers. This has never happened to me before. They loosened up throughout the day but I am still having some pain in my fingers. My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days.  I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?

Are you finished taking the levaquin and when did you finish?  Taking any other medications at this time?

Sounds like the side effects of the levaquin; if the symptoms have not subsided
notify your physician asap.   Also, if any physician decides in the future to prescribe that drug for you again do tell what has happened when you have taken it in the past.

The next time you are prescribed Levaquin the drill is not to "tell the physician you have had problems". The drill is to REFUSE the levaquin.  The second part of the drill is to go to the FDA site on the internet and submit a written adverse drug effect report. Just telephoning your physician about the problems is not sufficient. You need to write a letter and send it certified mail.  Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
