fluctuating between sweats and chills

by Sandy1310, Oct 07, 2009 12:01AM
Firstly, yes, I have hypothyroidism and take cytomel. Because this is well-regulated, I don't believe this is the issue. Secondly, I have been perimenopausal for years. I know the difference between a hot flash and what I am currently experiencing.

For the past 48 hours I've been fluctuating between what feel similar to hot flashes but not as irritating, and severe chills. By severe, I mean that I shake so hard I must get under a blanket and it feels as though my jaw is going to seize up.

The sweats come on the heals of the chills and I am hot longer than I am chilled. I roast in thermals and a robe and blanket because I know that as soon as I remove any clothing, I will instantly begin shaking from chills again.

I've been reading similar symptoms on the internet but no one seems to have an answer or even an idea...except hypothyroidism and menopause!
