Heather,
If your children have Mono, there's not anything that can make it better except time. You can give them something to relieve their symptoms but there is no magicMagic bullet pill to make Mono go away, it's a virus. You and your husband may have already been exposed to Mono earlier in your lives. (you can't get it more than once). Go to your doctor and ask them to test them for EBV (another name for Mono) Your kids will need a healthy diet, plenty of water and lots & lots & lots of rest if they truly do have Mono. There's tons of information about Mono and the EBV virus on line, just google Mono. I'm not a Doctor, I would only trust the diagnosis from my personal physician.
