tests

by itsallinmyhead1969, Aug 29, 2008 11:30AM
I asked my new doctor to run some further tests on me.  I tested positve for Lupus a couple of years ago.  When I went to the rhuematologist they said that a 2nd test came up negative.  She then said that I didn't have Lupus and diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia.  I went into all these new and strange symptoms with the new doctor, which he ignored and explained that I felt they should've at least done a 3rd test.  I had looked on the net and saw there are a lot of tests to diagnose the disease.  He explained that the test that was positive was an ANA test.  He told me to come back in a few weeks and he would do some more blood work. ( sed rate ect.) Well, he put me on some steroids and some anti inflammitory meds and I just started them yesterday.  While I have been checking all of this out on the net, I have learned that these things can affect the results of those test results.  Is this true?  When I think about it, I was placed on those anti inflammitory kind of meds when I first started complaining of the symptoms years ago.  They probably affected the 2nd test the rhuemy did that came up negative.  How can we get accurate readings in order to get proper diagnosises?  I have suffered for a very long time.  I have numb limbs, severe vision problems and was told by my former doctor it was all in my head.  My only medical treatment is through the VA.  I guess they don't want to give me a diagnosis that they would have to disable me for.  Why else would he put me on medications that would change my test results before administering the tests?  It is very disinheartining.  Thank you for any help you can give me.
