will my cysts grow back?

by jo291979, Dec 05, 2008 04:35AM
I am 29 years old, seven years ago i had a laparoscopy following a scan which showed a small cyst on my left ovary, however the laparoscopy showed no cyst, i have had discomfort in my left ovary for the past seven years, i recently went back as the pain was getting worse and i have even needed time off work.
A recent scan showed that i now had a 7cm cyst on the left side, i had another laparoscopy where they discovered i also had a 3cm cyst on the right side - they were drained during the laparoscopy.
My question is - will they return again?

Unfortunately, cysts do keep growing.  Especially if you have irregular/absent periods and/or PCOS.  Do you have a regular period?  Most of the time, cysts just disappear on their own, but since you get pains and you have had cysts in the past, you should keep an eye on them and get checked regularly.  It's a pain, but at least you'll catch them earlier than later and have laparascopy instead of a laparatomy. Good luck.  I hope you don't get anymore cysts.
