Anyone have Placenta Previa?

by mel1553, Dec 09, 2008 04:09PM
I have low line, not full blown placenta previa atleast anymore. My last US, my placenta hadn't moved up at all yet. I have another US next Mon. My Doc has been telling me no sex, but I haven't been abiding by his rules so much. He has also told me now not to lift more than a gallon of milk. He won't get into details with me but he says if it separates we could be in big trouble. What does any of this mean? I know I have a chance of an emergency cesarian cause if the placenta comes out first, me and the baby could both die. That's all the info I have. Does anyone have any info on this condition?

I was on bed rest from this earlier in the pregnancy until my placenta moved. This means you placenta is partially covering your cervix. You DO NOT want to have sex with this condition because it can cause spontaeous bleeding, or seperating of the placenta from the uterus. This is a very serious condition and it can also cause preterm labor. You dont want to be on yuor feel a lot either as this puts too much pressure on the placenta. You can get some good info on it if you google placenta previa. That is what I did. Most of the time they will schedule you for a c-section if it doesn't move far enough away from the cervix. If the placenta tears away from the uterus you could bleed out and then the baby will be cut off from their blood and oxyhen supply. You really need to take this seriously and do EVERYTHING the Dr tells you to do if you do not want to endanger your baby or yourself...
Good luck...

Thanks for the info. My doctor said it's not covering my cervix...it's just low. And he just kind of suggested no sex, that's why I didn't seem too concerned. I will take it more seriously now though. I've never had any bleeding or anything except in the first couple mths..I had old blood once.  I do feel like she's not goin to wait though! I'm HUGE! And ALL belly! Every customer that has come in this last mth says "When u do? Now?" They are all shocked when I tell them Feb 11th. I was never this big my entire pregnancy with my son 14yrs ago.
