Being induced 2/10/09

Being induced 2/10/09

So during my appointment today I was still only 1cm dilated and the baby is still sitting high.  The doctor was concerned about that and told me is very very very sure that I will most likely need a c-section.  He did however tell me the only way to know for sure if he is right or wrong is to try laboring on my own.  I did tell him I can feel her head "bouncing" on my pubic bone.  He did say that it's possible my pelvis is too small which is why she isn't engaged at all.  If it were up to him though we would have scheduled a c-section but he supported my decision to try and labor.  We are being induced on Tuesday, 2/10/09 @ 5am.  He is going to start me on pitocin and then break my water (I also tested positive for Strep B so I will be started on anti-biotics immediatly).  Hubby and I will be further discussing how far we will go before saying enough is enough.  The doctor basically said that I will know when I'm done laboring.  He told me that he will most likely suggest the c-section if I get stuck and don't dilate properly for a few hours or if i am at 10cm and the baby still hasn't dropped.  I told him I am not one of those women who will do everything to try and NOT have a c-section, I just feel like I'm giving up if I just go for the c-section.  He told me to not look at it that way but understands comletely where I am coming from, saying that most women in my position say/feel the same way.  Soooooo that's my uipdate.  I am feeling soreness alllll over, on my belly and inside my legs (croch and butt area) which upsets me that I am only 1cm dilated and feeling this way.  The doc did offer to do an u/s to see how much the baby weighed, but we decided not to because I think the issue will end up being whether the baby drops or not.

Well good luck to everyone else, our days are nearing their end!

Well at least they gave you a date!! Thats great news! I know everything is frustrating right now but it will be over soon and when you see your lil baby it will all be worth it! And if I make it that far, thats my induction date too! Our babies may have the same birthday! Awww. Well good luck and make sure you keep us updated! I hope it all works out for you and your little one.

Gee thats weird..do you think my doctor would have told me by now if my pelvis is too small? I always thought it would be but I've had many internals and it was never mentioned? But it was always a concern of mine!

Well my doctor told me that my pelvis being small could be a reason the baby hasn't dropped - or can't drop.  So if your baby is engaged or starting to become already, then you probably don't have anything to worry about.  I can feel the baby pushing down on my pubic bone, so maybe she is trying to engage but just can't.  We'll see what happens though.

What's going on?  Everyone is being induced but me!  I'm jealous~

I really hope that everything goes fine and you can deliver vaginally.

Good luck and thinking of you-
