I was dilated at 2cm last Wednesday and still nothing yet.  From what I've been reading you can be dilated at 2 for weeks.

I go back tomorrow so hopefully I have dilated more.

Yea...it all depends on your body. You can stay at 2cm for quite some time..or it could be any day.
There are things that you can do at home to help naturally induce labor...
Eating certain things..nipple stimulation...and others. Try googling it and I am sure you can come up with something to try to help!

It sometimes depends on whether this is your first baby or a second, third, etc., pregnancy.  With my first I was dialated 2 cms for 4 weeks, before labor finally started.  When I checked in the hospital when the contractions became regular, I was already 6 cms.  Start to finish about 6 hours.

The second pregnancy, I dialated to 4 cms, before I had the first contraction.  Had BH contractions but they were never regular.  Even though I was dialated to 4 cms, I felt nothing, no pain.  I didn't lose my mucus plug until contractions actually began.

Every pregnancy is different and ever labor is different.  Hang in there.  The further you dialate before you go into actual labor, the better for you.

Ideally, they say the baby should "cook" for at least 38 weeks, to be considered full term.  But you are well on your way...

Best of luck,
Heather

I have been 1cm dilated and 70% effaced for the past two weeks. I  lost my mucus plug (one big glob) last week.  I was told on this past Monday that my cervix was getting softer.  I have had false labor on and off for about a week now. Talk about a tease!

Good luck and I hope you hear the words "You are 100% effaced and 5cm dilated!  You are ready to have this baby!"
