Not able to sleep at nite

Not able to sleep at nite

I am 26 weeks and I have been having trouble sleeping at nite. I can lay there and lay there and not get to sleep. And I am not much on going to sleep early. It adverages from 12am to around 2am or even later. And then when I do get to sleep sound. It like it is real light. Sometimes it has even been 730 before I really to sleep. And then back up within a few hours. And it is starting to upset my husband. Could it because my husbands shift change due to his police work??

Hi,

me too!  Even when I'm tired I find I can't sleep, and often wake up in the middle of the night.

Have found that having something to eat before trying again can help me sleep again, even if I'm not feeling hungry.  I take a benadryl once in a blue moon (well not more than once a week, though I believe it is considered safe) if I really need to sleep.  If works for me, plus helps with my allergies.

I think sleep probelms are common in 3rd trimester.

Can you and your hubby sleep separately if it's disturbing him?

If im not in the bed with him he doesnt sleep. Like if I go out of town and he has to stay here. Ive been trying to explain that to him that some women have trouble sleepin as well too but he doesnt listen to me. But thanks for the advice.

Tough that one - though kind of sweet that your hubby can't sleep without you!  Reckon just have to lie there and count sheep! :}

It is pretty normal, unfortunately.  Just keep telling your hubby it's normal for pregnancy and will be over in another 14 weeks or less (and then we'll have squalling babies to deal with and no sleep for other reasons... :)

Are you sleeping with a big pillow or preganacy (pregnancy) pillow.   I bought one of those big long ones from Walmart...cheaper.  It has really helped as far as comfort goes.  Try drinking some hot tea, something withougt caffeine...those night time teas!!  Just relax, take a bath and read a book about 30 mins before bed!!

I've been having the same problem, so I have found a new routine that seems to be working most nights. First I take a warm bath right before bedtime. Then I will drink a big glass of milk while I read a book/ magazine. As soon as I'm done with the milk I get into bed, with my body pillow and the fan on and I seem to drift off within 30 min or so. If that doesn't work within 1-2 hours I take a benadryl (just not more than twice a week, per the Dr). Maybe some of that will help you! Who knows... pregnancy is such a weird time for all of us.

One more for a vote of totally normal. I was like that a few weeks back, I would just lay there and lay there or if I did fall asleep i would wake every hour for nothing. Unfortunately now I can sleep however its either heartburn or some part of my body falling asleep (or bathroom trip) that has me waking up rolling over and going back to sleep. The other night my husband stayed here at my parents with me, talk about awful" my big 'ol pregnant self and him in a full size bed. We have a queen at home...needless to say niether of us slept much that night and figure that there is nothing wrong with us should we not share the same bed until after the babies are born!!
