Taking walks immediately after helps a lot too, do you change the size of the needle?
We use the larger to get the pio out of the bottle then use a smaller one for the injection
I am on my first cycle with shots after 2 chemical miscarriages..i have a bfp and will be on them until about 10 weeks..heating pad after helps a ton!! and rubbing too! am still sore but it is much better!
I was on progesterone injections from retrieval date until 5 weeks. Then my RE switched me to Crinone. I heard they were really messy but I've actually found it to be super easy and clean and far better than progesterone suppositories I used with IUI.
My RE didn't give me a choice between injections and gel initially. I did ask, however, and he simply said he wasn't taking any chances. I had 4 failed IUIs so I don't know if that mattered. This was my first IVF cycle and I'm 7 weeks pregnant today!
I found that using a heating pad for about 10 mins before the shot and 15 mins after the shot and rubbing in the oil for about 2 to 3 mins realy work and I have no brusing after I started doing that plus make sure the oil is warmed in your hand for a while makes the oil go in better ! Good luck hopes this helps a little !
i used crinone suppositories and while they were rather messy, it was nicer than yet more shots. after the lupron and the two gonadotropins twice a day, i was tired of needles :)
Are the shots standard after IVF? I think my dr says he uses Crinone progesterone gel. But if the shots work better, I want the shots! We are looking to start our first IVF next month, if I get a bfn this month. I REALLY hope I get a bfp; I am feeling very worn out by all this.
Good luck to you keilie. And Congrats trh0819 on your pregnancy
I just finished my first round with injections and found that rubbing the area vigorously for a few minutes then sitting on a heating for about 15 minutes made a HUGE difference. Took me a few tries to figure that one out but hopefully I can save you some pain. But FYI,,, the first few that did hurt really weren't that painful. Just sore but totally manageable. Good luck!
