no foetal pole and heart beat

my wife had pregnancy of 8weeks but no foetal pole and heart beat and finaly she had to abort. she has back history of ectopic pregnacy and one similar case of abortion. she is case of duplex uterus. karyotyupe report of both of us is normal. but karyotype of the aborted material first reported 16 trisomy and in second case it reported 18 monosomy.
my semen count has been tested normal. i am a occasional drinker and smoker but she is pure veg and no drink or smoke.
i would be extremely thnakful if one can explain the cuase and possible remedy thereof. any sorts of precuation if we have to take before next pregnancy.

I am sorry for your losses. With trisomy 16 & 18, the fetus' didn't have a chance. The reason for the problems is genetic. If your wife is older (over 35) that could be one of the reasons. Normally, at this point your dr would refer you to a genetic counselor to try to get to the root of the problem. IVF may be the best route for you two, but it really needs to be determined by her dr. Is she seeing a fertility specialist or just an obgyn?
