1st ivf cycle question

Hi,

this is my 1st ivf cycle im currntly on the gonal-f and menopur day 1. my retrieval should be the 1st week of july. my questions is. does the egg retrieval hurt? i will be sedated i just wanted to know if anyone had any pain or discomfort afterwards.

I just had Egg retrieval on tuesday and this was my 3rd. They put me to sleep and I did not feel anything. After the retrieval my tummy was sore untill yesterday. It is easy. Good luck

i did my egg retrieval on the 10th of this month.  I think normally you will have some mild cramping for a few days.  my doctor  drained several cysts that were on my ovaries at the same time he did egg retrieval... so i hurt a good bit for the next couple of days.  They said that was not usually the case...  just because of my cysts.  anyway, the good news is that the transfer is the easiest and least invasive part of the whole ivf cycle..  so  relax and know that its only going to get easier!  good luck

this is my first ivf cycle. i started lupron in may on the 21st day counting from when i got my period. then in june i got my period and about 6 days later i started the gonal-f & menopur which is where i am now day two. it takes about 7 weeks for the whole thing so hang in there!! i know it can be frustrating! but once you start everything it will move fast. i go for my bloods and sono tomorrow so hopefully everything is going ok. so far so good. good luck!!!

How long did it take you all to start meds?  I have been on antiobiotics (and so has my DH) for almost 2 weeks.  Is this standard?  Then they wanted me to monitor my O which was yesterday and today.  I thought I would start the meds/ hormones right away but they said not until I get a period!  I am so upset.  This process seems to go on and on.  I just want to start the hormones and have my retrieval already.  Was this a long process ofr you too?

i think every clinic does it a little different. for example, I  was prescriped birth control pills for the months of april, then started ivf in june.  no antibiotics at that time.  lmp5/26/07, began lupron, follistem, and low dose hcg on 5/29.   continued that till friday 6/8  when i took hcg trigger shot. egg ret on 5/10.  transfer on 5/15.   i was prescriped medrol and tetracylcine for 5 days between egg retr. and transfer.  also started hcg shots at tme of egg ret.  
so in my long winded answer i think once you actually start you ivf cycle  withinjections its about 3 to 4 weeks till the pregnancy  test.

Please let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow!   I hope everything is wonderful!  Did you transfer 1 or 2????  I am so excited for you!  
I am 35.  Do you mind me asking your age?  My doctor said he uses BCP for younger patients.  That is why I had to use a OM instead of the pills.  I hope 21 days goes by quickly.  I can't wait for my procedure!!!
