1st round of chlomid failed

Hello had my 21 day blood test yesterday and my 1st 50mg round of chlomid has failed. Got to go back on day 28 for another blood test and to probably get a higher dose of clomid. I'd experienced strange pains and cramps and was sire I'd ovulated so after this news felt devasted. Anyone else been in this position. I haven't had a period for 3 Years since coming off contraceptive pill. Any words of wisdom or advice from anyone?

Well wend back for day 28 test on Tuesday still no ov but estrogen levels increased, anyone know what these should be? Thought this time I'd get a second higher dose if clomid but instead sent away to wait 1 more week. Has anyone ever ovulated this late? Been in similar situation?

PS- I wanted to say that the strange cramps you have been feeling may be the follicles growing.  I've had this all 3 times I've taken clomid and this month was particularly noticeable.   The pain is very specific and it feels like twisting/pinching.  For me, it usually starts around cycle day 7 and continues right up until I ovulate.

Hi there:

I'm sorry the first round hasn't made you ovulate yet.  :(  I know how disappointing it can be.  I'm currently on round #3 of clomid and hoping and praying so much that this will be the month I get pregnant.

I did also want to say that 50 mgs is the starting dose and it's entirely possible that it was just too little for you.  100 mg might do the trick though!  I started on 50 mgs and was bumped up to 100 mgs for the 2nd cycle and for this cycle.

What cycle days are you taking it on?  Days 3-7 or Days 5-9?

I also highly recommend getting some ovulation predictor kits.  I order an inexpensive pack from early pregnancy tests.com and start testing on cycle day 10.  They say that most women ovulate 5-8 days after the last clomid pill but I've ovulated even later than that..like around Day 20 and 21..so who knows..maybe you will ovulate before Day 28!  Also, you could try pre-seed.  Clomid can reduce a woman's cervical mucus and pre-seed is supposed to help with that.

Finally, my sister was on clomid and went in for her day 21 test and it showed nothing.  She went back and still nothing!  They said it was a clomid failure BUT she was BDing every other day and around day 40 she went in for an ultrasound since she still hadn't gotten a period.  They saw a follicle about to release an egg and told her to go home and BD that night..so she did and she got pregnant with my niece!

So don't give up hope!  *hugs*

Thank you to you all for your replies. Yeah the test showed I didn't even ovulate. Still feeling really down about it. They said I had low eastrogen levels so unlikely I'll ovulate before dat 28. I hope the 100mg works when I get it and hope the side effects aren't any worse than the 50mg. Interested to hear anymore advice or your similar stories

When I was on Clomid, I had alot of side affect... headache, cramp, pains before ovulation, moody, etc... Don't give up... Keep trying and you will get BFP.. I tried to conceive for 21 months... on clomid for 7 cycles... Femara for 8 cycles and nothing happen... when I about to give up then i got pregnant unexpected....

Keep up the hope and don't give up...

Good luck to you.

I take it your 21 day blood draw was for progesterone and it showed no ovulation occured?  I am sorry I know how sad that can be. I like you do not ovulate on 50mg but once moved to 100mg I got preggers with my daughter.   Good Luck!

Hi..

It may be a good idea to try using ovulation predictor kits so that you can have a better idea of when and if you ovulate. Just because you did not get pregnant does not mean you didn't ovulate.  Good luck and sending lots of baby dust your way for your next cycle!
