2 day transfer of 3 cell embryo

Hi,
Just wanted to know if it is normal practice for an embryo with 3 cells to be transferred on day 2?  I have been looking on the internet and it says by day two there should be 4 cells, is this correct?  I am 40yrs old and this was my first ICSI cycle and had my blood test today and it was negative.  I have just spoken to another clinic and they told me that this was impossible, that the earliest an embryo should be transferred is day 3.  Would love some feedback on this.

I think most clinics do either day three or day five transfers but I have heard of some transfers being done on day two, but I am not sure there is an advantage to doing this.  Did you only have one embryo transferred?

Sometimes they will transfer embryos super early if you are older (plus 40) but usually it is day 3. Maybe the embie will have better chances if it keeps dividing in your uterus... maybe they thought it was a "good enough embryo with only three cells" who knows. I will ask the doctor for details and tell him you heard everywhere people ger transfers either at day 3 or at day 5 !!!

My doctor mentioned to me when I had my transfer that the uterus is a much better incubator.  So, maybe your doctor thought that the embryo had a better chance in the uterus than in their lab.
