so if I am reading the OPK correctly I got a postive yesterday, however that means tha my Leutal phase is 21 days, or maybe even more if I go 35 days instead of 32 days in my cycle. Can a really long leutal phase hurt me or my chances?
Nope...only a short luteal phase is a problem, since the fertilize egg might not have a chance to implant properly by the time the lining starts to shed. A long luteal phase gives the egg plenty of time and then some ;)
It will not hurt your chances...but I doubt it will be that long. Normally it's between 12 and 16 days, and its' vary rarely longer than that (In charting, they usually say that if it's longer than 18 days, you're most probably pregnant). One thing to keep in mind is that the OPK turns positive BEFORE you actually ovulate. Usually the day before. So you normally don't start counting day 1 of your luteal phase (1 dpo) until two days after the OPK. Best of luck this cycle!
Thank you for answering, I am pulling the 21 days from my ovulation tracker. This is what made me question it. We shall see, although they are very rare as you say, is there any negative effects from haveing such a long leutal phase?
One thing I learned a long time ago is that I do not do anything the normal way, if it is suppose to be one way for everyone I will sure as the day is long be something else. Here's to hoping
