Oh good old time with Microbiology classes, to be honest you are all gonna become germophobics, ha, ha, ha...
sarbear- I don't know if there is much difference between the suppositories and the injections except that with suppositories it takes a little bit more time for your prgesterone levels to come up than with the injections, but the difference is not that significant so they usually give you the option. It also depends on office protocol.
scienceteacher-
I'm not at the meat part, but I can see why. I think I'm turning into a germaphobic.
Mommyin09-
catchy name but you still have 4 months in 08 so why not Mommyin08?
Anytime you need a laugh just ask, I have stories that will turn your day sunny. We all need sunny days.
You made me laugh ! :) I hope you find an applicator. Trust me, you will appreciate the difference :) Good luck to you !!!
When I took Microbiology I quit eating meat for the entire summer! So, yeah I know what you mean! :)
The "clumpy" stuff is gross but normal. I take 2 sup a day plus the POI shots (OOOCH). Been on these d*** shots since my transfer and they hurt everytime. My nurse told me not to BD when on the progestrone sup unless it has been over 8 hours, the progestrone can cause your DH to become "less responsive" if you know what I mean. I guess the progestrone is given to those who have had previous unexplained m/c's. It's amazing how many different forms there are. Mine look just like little bullets and I don't have a applicator. But you better believe tomorrow I am going to the pharmacy to ask for one. I am jealous. Been using my finger UUUGH!! Then trying not to touch anything between the toilet and the sink so as to wash my hands (TMI). Can you imagine. The things we do for the babies. It doesn't help I'm in a MIcrobiology class right now, and the instructor procedes to tell us how there is bacteria, fungus, viruses everywhere so I'm washing, inserting, washing, wiping, washing, and changing all the time. Okay that was a little too much but just wanted to let you know your not the only oe freaking out with all this mess. Literally.
God Bless everyone.
WE WILL BE BLESSED BELEIVE THIS!!!!!!!
The clumpy stuff is so annoying. I freaked the first time I found it. It was after 4 days of using the prog. and when me and hubby were going to BD I came upon it and I mean I was filled with it. Now I'm obsessed with scooping the clumps out daily. If I get prego I have to use the stuff for 12 weeks. I don't know if I will be able to handle it. I think I would rather do shots........
I don't know if this is at all related but i had that when I did a yeast infection supp. It was clumpy like that when it leaked out. It cured the yeast infection, so don't get discouraged!
I never used the PIO shots so I wouldn't know. But the "clumped up wet toilet paper" is EXACTLY what I got when I tried to check my CM. Guess that is pretty much out of the question with the Progesterone stuff. Crappppp!
Anyone who has used PIO have a tiny bit leak back out after the needle is pulled out? We have been couting to 10 before we pull the needle out, but some is still leaking out. Is this okay?
I don't know about anyone else but I use the suppositories and it leaves a residue left inside me like clumped up wet toliet paper. I have to scoop it out everyday. Sex is out of the question while using it for me. Does anyone else get clumps from the prog.
I mean what's the difference besides the obvious.................. :)
what's the difference between the PIO and the suppistories? Why one over the other? I am doing PIO injections once/day. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Just harder to get into the syringe than a normal liquid.
oh yeah, I forgot about that....I was very very tired!
i did prog supps 2 times a day from 3 days after 3 until my 13 weeks of pregnancy. they make you very tired and lethargic. they are also a little messy for about 1 hour after you use them. some people get a little moody, i found i was frustrated a lot easier by things.
Hmm..gel...they make progesterone in sooo many forms! I just popped this pill up there and apparently it dissolves within an hour. As for PIO, I might do that next time around because I severely hate the pills and I have a ton of PIO on hand. (Needles don't bug me anymore eternidad =) )
Hi. Looks like we were posting at the same time. I'm glad you got the first one out of the way ! Don't you feel better !? :) The only instructions I had were from the pharmacist & he said to make sure you get it as far in as possible. Yours sound a little different than mine, but seems like everything worked out ! :)
Houston, you made me laugh! Thank God for dh, huh?! :) Yes, using an applicator definitely helps! I think it minimizes the leakage as well 'cause it helps to get the progesterone as far in as possible. If you're taking them more than once a day, I've heard the leakage is a bigger issue!
Yeah - i definately don't want the shots! Check this out: I go to put the "supp" in last night. It isn't like anything I have ever seen and of course there are no directions. It is a gel like substance that's white. I have to twist this little top off and squeeze the bottom and basically SHOOT the gel next to my cervix. It was the weirdest thing (nce I figured out what the heck I was doing wth it!). I hollared at DH to come look at the plastic thing and try to explain to me how to use it. He was dumbfounded. So I just kinda GUESSED and I think I did it right! :) Took it right before I went to bed and didn't have much leakage at all. I did wake up with cramps around 5:45 when I took my temp (which is ugly again - I think my thermometer is going bad or something). But other than the cramps everything went pretty good. YAY!
PS: I warned DH about the mood swings and already feel like poo - tired, cranky, ugh!
I am taking progesterone suppositories now but using an applicator, but hey it beats the **** out of progesterone in oil shots.
I had to take one every 12 hours last time around and probably this time too. I did not have an applicator and that was nasty! I made my dh do it because he doesn't have fingernails. Get an applicator!!!
I have never personally taken them but know a few ladies that have. They said that the worse part was the leakage. They said to wear a liner. PG symptoms as well. It worked for them. They were kept on the progesterone for a few months into the pg to make sure the progesterone stayed high. They all had previous m/c's but it did work for them! I know the TWW is the worst!
I didn't have mood swings, but then I really don't get them with AF either & didn't while on clomid. The progesterone mostly just makes me super sleepy. Houston's right, though. They do give you preg symptoms 'cause I get sore bbs, too. I take them at night, too. Just take your prog. when you're ready to go to bed 'cause it helps to lay down still for a little bit. Did you get an applicator with yours? I think that makes it easier, kind of like inserting a tampon. Anyway, best wishes to you !!! :-)
Thanks guys! Great advice (Houston - I don't even want to think about sex right now - so the morning nookie will NOT be a problem!). Hee hee!
I am taking 1 supp at bedtime. I hate that I am going to be even MORE tired then I already am. Ugh. And I am scared of the mood swings. Did you guys have those?
Hey!
I did suppositories 4 days after trigger last time around due to a m/c in Feb. too. Expect it to be kind of a pain in the neck (or someplace else he he). I had sore bbs, nausea, and cramps. Basically they give you pg symptoms. Also, its impossible to keep track of your CM because the prog. kind of leaks. You'll have to wear a liner. Also if you want to bd, wait until the prog. has soaked in for an hour. No morning delights...ahem. Okay, thats all I know! Good luck!
