2nd D&C within 2 weeks

I went in for my 12 week checkup & they didn't find a heartbeat. I decided to have a d&c since I didn't have any cramping or spotting indicating a miscarriage. I had the d&c on Jan. 15 and was barely spotting the 1st week. Starting the 2nd week I started bleeding & cramping. Went in for blood test & ultrasound & my hcg levels are still at 500 & they think I still have some tissue left behind. I'm a little afraid of having a 2nd d&c so quickly when I really haven't healed. I'm afraid that it could cause problems with trying to conceive again. Does anyone have any answers? I don't meet with my doctor again until Monday.

The exact same thing happened to me.  It can cause problems with conceiving if the dr. is too aggressive & scars your uterus.  I had the 2nd and after I had so many problems, I wished I didn't have it done.  If you do have the 2nd, ask for rx of estrogens (high dose) to protect you uterus from scarring.  Not all docs do that and mine did and I think it helped.

I never had a d&c done so I can't help u with that. I just wanted to let u know how sorry i am that this is happening to u. I'm 9w 2d and i think about that happening to me on my 12w checkup. Did u still have pregnancy symptoms when u went to the checkup? And again i'm sorry and hopefully next time u will have your baby.

I know exactly how you feel.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  In the past year and half I have had to have 4 d&c's and a hysteroscopy for 2 miscarriages.  I thought I was going to lose it.  My last procedure was in Aug 2007 and we started ttc again in Sept.  I am 10 weeks pregnant right now and praying this one makes it.  It took us three months to conceive after all of that.  I really think it depends on your doctor and your body.  I know this is a hard decision for you at this moment.  In the end, you will make the right decision.  I had to have the d&c's because my body just wouldn't get rid of the tissue.  And if you leave it too long it can turn into an infection.  Best of luck to you.  I hope you feel better.
