2nd Follistim Cycle

2nd Follistim Cycle

This is my second round of Follistim injectables. I have PCOS so the first round was done cautiously and on little doses. I stimmed for 20 days before getting 1 follicle to mature to a 20mm. I triggered and did timed intercourse (my husband is in great condition) but got a BFN. So this Cycle My doses were increased. My baseline E2 was 34.6. I started out on 100iu of follistim and did that for 5 days and went in for U/S and BW. My ultrasound showed nothing over 10mm and my E2 was 62.2. I went back 3 days later for another U/S and BW. This time I had several follies over 10mm (wasn't told how many) and my E2 was 299. So my doctor decided that since I have PCOS he was going to be cautious and he lowered my dose to 75iu. I took that for 2 days and went back in and found out that I have a 15.4mm, 14.4mm, and 10.7mm on my right ovary and a 13.7mm, 13.6mm, 10.4mm and 3- 9mm on my left ovary. My E2 was 382. He then upped my dose to 125iu for two night and I go back in tommorrow for more bw and u/s. They say I will more than likely trigger tommorrow night. So my question is this:

1. Has anyone had a similar situation?
2. If so, What was your outcome?
3. And do you think I am at risk for multiples?
4. Do you think I have a high chance of getting pg this time.

My husband and I have been trying for over 2 years. He is 25 and I am 24. PCOS is our only problem as I dont ovulate without the follistim. This will be out last cycle of timed BD and then I will ask for IUI even though the doc says we don't need it!

I have not been in quite the same situation as yourself, but i do have pcos as well.. are you on metformin? that can help you respond better to the injections, I would recommend it if your not... Its hard to say chances for multiples and pregnancy etc until you see how many mature follies you will have tomorrow.. typically follies rupture that are over 18mm.. occasionally 16mm and even 15 can rupture, but thats rare.. of course the more mature follies you have it can help increase the chancesof getting pregnant..
IUI defintely can increase your chances of getting preg, but it sounds like they might need to increase your dose of follistim as you did not overstimulate this cycle .. i do femara 5mg + 100mg of follistim days 3, 5, 7 and 9...GOOD LUCK, keep us updated!

I don't have PCOS but started my first round of follistim injections last month. I got 14 follicles all together with about 6 that were mature. Unfortunately due to clomid that thinned my lining I got a BFN and also had a left over follie that turned into a cyst so I had to sit this month out but hopefully you'll finally get that BFP. As long as you're ovulating and your DH is fine than it will definitely happen eventually.

Thank You for your comments. To answer some questions I am currently on metformin. 1500mg a day. I go in at 8:45 in the morning to see how I have progressed so I will keep you posted. Tons of Baby Dust to everyone! I hope we all get our BFP soon!

So here's an update! I went in this morning for an U/S and I now have a 15.6 and 15.4 on my right ovary and a 16.9, 16.9, 20.0, and 14.6 on my left. I am waiting for my E2 results. I am hoping they will hold off on triggering a day or two so that those 16.9's can mature. 3 is better than 1! So here's hoping we all get our BFP's soon!

I got my E2 Results: 639. So I am to trigger tonight at midnight and then BD tonight, tommorrow, and Friday. I go in on Nov. 7th for pg test. The nurse said that my 20 and two 16.9 will ovulate and possible even my 15's. They could go either way. So here's hoping I get my BFP!  Anyone else in the same boat?
