40,s momma/ and everyone else

hi there, I had a dumb question I guess. Last week sometime cannot remember exact day when I had ultra sound my lining was at a 10.. which is great for IVF I am still on the estrogen, does it continue to build as the days go on? just curious, and I did not think to ask when I went on monday to bring the speciman, I thought maybe I would ask you and you would know., Tomorrow is my transfer and I am scared, excited, happy, nervous, Now I am thinking maybe I should go with 3 instead of 2, although this is a 5 day transfer. I just want it to work

Hi Luci - sorry I was feeling crappy all day and didn't even get on the computer.  For me, my lining was around 11 on day of transfer and I think it was 10 a few days before so it sounds like you're right on target.  I asked the nurse about it and she said as long as it was above 9 we were good to go so it sounds like you're doing terrific!  Good luck getting them to let you transfer 3 - I pushed for 2 and only got one.  It was weird - I had no idea what I was doing (I wasn't prepared like you or other ladies on the board) & we had to make a decision pronto quicko about how many to transfer THAT day.  Not fun - thank God you're making that decision ahead of time.  Does your embryologist talk to you guys regularly?  If so, talk to him about it.  Ours was GREAT and he had definite opinions about how many we should transfer.  There are so many studies out there & it seems like afterwards is when I read them.  Most said transferring higher numbers don't increase chances for pregnancy although that really blew my mind.  Of course as hannah pointed out a lot has to do w/the quality of the embryo.  We also did day 5 and I'm so glad that we did & that you are also.

I'm so excited for you & you sound terrific!!!  I'll be pulling for you, praying, whatever it takes to get those little ones to get in there and STICK tomorrow.  You take it super duper easy the next few days and let us know what happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So excited for you - jen

Good luck tomorrow.  I know it will all go really well and the next two weeks will be filled with sore bbs and heartburn.  Well maybe not the whole two weeks.  It will take a little while for the symptoms to kick in :)

Your question is a tough one.  Part of me thinks since you have had 6 failed IUI, you should go with the most you can.  But on the other hand, if the problem was the age/quaility of the eggs, this is a whole new playing field.  If this is a one shot deal, I'd probably say go for three, but if you are going ot freeze them if you need to try again.. than I don't know.. it is tough decision either way..

Start planning for the best.. this is gonna happen!!!  You already have a dd so you body knows what to do, it just needs a little help getting there...  I can't wait to see your BFP!!

Hey babyprayers, I had my transfer last Saturday.  This is my third IVF.  The first one they talked me into putting only two grade 1 embies back (grade one is best at my clinic).  These are only day three transfers.  BFN and none to freeze b/c the third didn't make it to freeze.  The second IVF we put back three and still BFN.  This time we had five grade 1 embies and put back four.  They tried to talk us down to at least three.  She told us that we had a chance at having quadruplets b/c all embies grade 1, but the truth is the odds at me becoming preggo at my age with my eggs are very slim.  I was told that three out of four of my eggs are probably not any good anyway.  I told DH if we only put three in and the other two didn't make it then our odds are not any better than the second IVF.  In other words, I think you have think about what is the rate of pregnancy for your age, how many IVF's have you done, and are you going to wish you had put in three if the others don't make it to freeze.  I know it is a hard decision to make.  We are praying that just one takes.  I am not even thinking about if all four take.  Good luck to you.  Oh, and about the lining.  I am not sure that it continues to increase.  I think it is just suppose to stay thick so the embies can embed in it.  SSBD!!!
