7.5 week IVF pregnancy, underdeveloped embryo, doppler not picking up hearbeat

I am 7 weeks 5 days pregnant today.  My doctor is certain of the dates, since it's an IVF pregnancy.  I have gone twice for a transvaginal ultrasound, and although a small flickering can be seen on the screen, the doppler is not picking up the embryo's heartbeat.  The doctor also said that it's underdeveloped, measuring only .49 cm today.  I am schedule to go back in a week, but the doctor doesn't seem too postive about the pregnancy being a viable one.

Could it be that my little bean is just a slow grower? Could the calculations be wrong? Has anyone gone through the same and had a successful preganancy?

We have been trying for 4 years, and we are hearthbroken right now... Help!

Also remember most drs offices equipment is not that great so that my be why.  My dr with my first pregnancy actually sent me to the hospital for ultrasound for that same reason and everything turned out fine.(was not ivf pregnancy it was natural) and calculations can always be wrong because your dr can't tell you the exact moment your baby implanted so itcan be off a few days.  Hopefully when you go back your little bean with be growing like crazy.  Good luck.

I would not worry that you cannot find the HR with a doppler, most docs wont even try till 12 weeks, baby is so small, and it totally depends on baby position, & the position of the placenta. Give it time & hopefully baby will catch up.  I wish you all the best!
