7th IUI-negative...is there hope??

7th IUI-negative...is there hope??

I had my beta on Friday for my 7th IUI and it was negative...again! This however, was my first IUI with injectibles. I'm not sure what to do anymore. Do you really think that after 7 IUI's that it may work?? The past 6 IUI's were with just clomid and NO monitoring. This has been the first cycle with follistim and clomid and monitoring. I had a great outlook but it was negative. Do you think I should hold out hope for number 8?  There seems to be nothing wrong with me..doing IUI because we are using a sperm donor. Or should I think about moving on to IVF. IVF isn't covered on my insurance and really cannot afford it.

Do you think there's hope? I feel completely lost.

did they not do any u/ss with the first 6 IUIs? seems odd as far as timing, checking $ of folicles and size, etc is concerned.what dose clomid were you taking?
i have done 6 mo clomid, 1 mo femara, 3 IUIs with trigger shots and stil no BFP.  We are prob starting IVF this month.  May try the shared risk plan the RE offers sicne ours isnt covered by insurance either.

I'm So SORRY! Yes there is hope, don't give up, look at me 6 failed, and now I am PG! Please don't feel hopeless. I think that they should be more monitored mine were not, and I think to time it perfectly it should be monitored! Will your insurance cover more IUI? If so I would definatly keep going forward! I know how disappointing it is, the only comfort I can say is it is soooo worth it in the end! You will get your BFP! Keep trying!

Defintely don't give up hope!!! Now that your being monitored and changing up the meds there is a great chance that the next cycle will work!   I would try three closely monitored IUI's before moving to IVF.. GOOD LUCK! I"m praying for ya! : )

Thanks for the support. I was really feeling bummed out and thinking that something is wrong with me. I think the reason why my 6 IUI's beforehand where not monitored because it was a male factor (my husband had a vasectomy) so we were using a donor. They figured it'd be quick and easy. I was on 50 mg of clomid. After my HSG (everything great) and my lap which found nothing wrong they put me on 100 mg of clomid and 150 of follistim. I had 14 follicles 9 on my left and 5 on my right and about 6 that were mature. Hopefully one will eventually stick....I think I'm going to try another round and we'll go from there. There's got to be a happy ending to this after all right?

HI there

Yes absolutely there is still hope! Could I ask why your clinic made you go through 6 IUIs on clomid with no monitoring. Its just that 6 is alot to make someone go through without progressing them onto injectables alot sooner with monitoring. I have had 2 failed IUIs on injectables and my third one now will be my last one before they move me onto IVF.

Good luck!

Well, since the prior 7 tries were not monitored cycles, I would say you should try IUI again an couple times but always monitor your cycles with ultrasound and use hcg to trigger ovulation.  It may make all the difference.

I can't believe they did not monitor you.  Did you use trigger with your clomid cycles?  Note that donor sperm (I presume it's frozen) does not live as long as regular sperm and you REALLY need to time it right.

I am so sorry it did not work...

Hi, I am still wondering also why you did 6 IUI without any monitoring?? I had 7 failed IUI but all with monitoring and with gonal inj, nothing was wrong with my husband's sperm count or my egg quality, it's just I stopped trying with IUI as I am 40 yrs old and in few month will be 41 !! so I opted for IVF this month and got pregnant, still in my very early stages though! If you can afford to do more IUI yes go ahead and do it, it will work but don't stress it it will happen..be patient and think positive! Good luck

Well they did 6 unmonitored cycles because of my age, started at 22. It was male factor, my husband cannot have kids and that's basically it. I thought it was a crazy amount to do without any changes either. I guess hindsight is 20/20. This was my first cycle with monitoring and trigger shot. I just got AF today so I start again with my day 3 on Thursday. I'm getting put on all follistim shots because the doctor thinks that maybe the clomid is thinning my lining too much. I think this will be my last cycle before we move on to IVF or adoption. At this point I'm willing to pay anything to have  baby.

I also did 6 natural IUI, we thought ours was male factor too, all failed. We didn't do any meds or anything. My dr. didn't think we would need it!

Nevaeh~ I'm glad to see you are not giving up! Good Luck.

Well looks like I'm sitting out another cycle. I have left over follies that turned into cysts that I need rest for this month so they go away..ugh! I hate this waiting game. Guess on to wait for the next cycle.
