I am 27 years old and have very irregular periods since I can remember. When I say irregular, I mean irregular. Sometimes I have my period every 2 months, sometimes 3 months, then 4 months then every month. The rarest is every month though. So pretty much the only time I know I'm getting my period is when I get my PMS
symptoms which is usually lower cramps with breast tenderness a few days before my period. I have also had cysts on my ovaries. I found out because one ruptured and hurt like hell. Had an ultrasound which confirmed its presence but it resolved on it's own.
I used to be on birth control when I was about 17-20 yrs old which regulated my period. However my personal choice was to stop taking them because at that time, I didn't get my period for about 6 months after I got off the pill which scared the heck out of me. I can't help but think this is due to the BC pills but the only solution doctors give me to regulate my period is to go back on BC.
Anywho, I have seen several gyns who don't give me any answers. They ask if i'm pregnant, when they find out I'm not, they tell me it's normal since i've been irregular for soo long and not to be worried until I start trying to conceive and then we'll see if it' normal. Well I will be trying to conceive soon with my husband and I guess I will find out but scared I have a problem.
Does anyone else have periods as irregular as mine?
I am lucky (well I guess not lucky), If I get one a year and I was always told the same thing. When we started trying for our first baby I waited 18 months before I went and got help from my ob, I wish I would have done it sooner he put me on provera so I would have a period and then Clomid. It worked the first month. We are now trying for our second using the same method. I am on my second round of the Clomid and I Ovulated two days ago so now we are just waiting with our fingers
