Abnormal pap smear, late period, negative tests.

I am 19 years old, My last period started on May 28th and lasted about a week.
I have been having severe pain in the middle of my cycle due to ovulation for the past 5 months; as a result, I went to have a pap smear done on June 16th.
I was having what I thought was ovulation pain on the 15th of june.
The pap results came back abnormal. They said it was nothing to worry about, and it was not cancerous, they would check again at my yearly exam.

The doctor also told me to start birth control after my next period to help regulate my ovulation pain.

However, now my period is 12 days late.
I have had protected sex (condom) a few times since the doctors visit. So I took a Home Pregnancy Test (first response brand)  4 days after my missed period. It came back negative.
I waited four more days and took another test, it was also negative.
I waited three more days, and I took a test with my first morning urine, it was also negative.

My period is usually pretty regular, but now I am stressed because I am waiting on my period :/

Is this just my period being abnormal because of hormones? Should I start my birth control pills, or wait until after my period (if it arrives)?

After all those negative results, then it's safe to say you're not pregnant. You period could be abnormal because of the hormones in the new pill and will take a while for your body to get used to them. Did the doctor check for anything else because of the abnormal pap? You could have a bacteria infection or something that could be causing this...or something else so I would go back to the doctor and get them to run more tests. Could be something you need treatment for and if left untreated can get worse.
