My first IVF was successful without acupuncture but resulted in a miscarriage at 16 weeks. I'm now trying acupuncture once weekly before my next transfer. I really can't tell much difference and doc says its a slow process but I'm hoping it will help. My acupuncturist wants to do 3 treatments weekly at $65 per treatment. Not gonna happen but I will incorporate exercise and a healthier diet.

I think if nothing else, aucupunture is good for blood flow. It's funny how we think anything "out of the norm" can't/won't work.  I bet people in China/Tiawan/ect... think it's soooo strange how we take tons of pills for everything that we have...colds/pains/ect....   I think we should be open to other forms of medication... How may people have told us.... "if God wanted you to get pregnant, you would do it on your own"?  Well, if we listened to them, we wouldn't be pursuing fertility treatments that God has made available.
I guess my point is, I don't think it can hurt, and there are several women on here how have gotten preggers with acupunture as a part of their program and feel they were successful after adding it.

I was trying it for past two cycles and am not really able to see any benefits except that it relaxes me. But then i heard it might take more time to be effective...would continue for some more time though and see how much it helps! I hav heard tons of success stories though

I know.... I know... I really know the theory and logistics of acupuncture... i'm a body/mind therapist and practice yoga and meditation. But the mind plays with you sometimes and you become supersticious even if you don't want.  I know in my head acupuncture did not caused the miscarriage but there is this stupid little voice that makes me wonder. If I could only put it to rest!!! But I will @ some point and maybe do acupuncture someday...

I started exercising yesterday and feel SO MUCH BETTER!!! Let the "chi" run free :)

Acupuncture will not result in a miscarriage, neither will it contribute to a pregnancy. The needles are inserted at key points to stimulate the flow of your 'chi' (or energy/blood flow) at these places (in this case, must be corresponding to your reproductive organs). Many health problems today are actually caused by disturbed flow of 'chi' in our bodies, in the Chinese medical context. When the flow of 'chi' is good, your body will be able to function like it should naturally, like hormonal balance, and self healing, which are vital for survival, and of course development of an embryo.
I had a miscarriage too 2 months ago, and shortly after, 2 cysts were found in me (5cm and 3 cm). I went for acupuncture and a month later, both cysts were gone.
However, make sure you get a reputable acupuncturist. There are too many 'fake' ones in the market, that may just do more harm than good!

I have mixed feelings about it. I did it last time and I got pregnant that weekend but then I did it at almost 7 weeks pregnant and my baby died three days after that. The lady knew I was pregnant but maybe she did some "bad" spots? I don't know. Most likely my baby died because of chromosomal problems but now I am a bit cautious about acupuncture :(

I did acupuncture during IVF. One treatment 30 minutes before transfer and one immediately after before leaving the facility. Can't say that's what did the trick but I'm 14 weeks pregnant!
