session... Started going there when I started my IVF and I am currently 9 weeks pregnant; planned to continue until 1st trimester. I don't know if it affected anything, but figured it didn't hurt. Well, today my acupuncturist checked my pulse
(it's kind of their thing) and said it is not looking good at all. She got all serious and made it sound like something horrible was about to happen! She didn't actually mention the "m" word, but the implication was there. She completely freaked me out and now I'm so worried! Medically, everything is going great; on my last u/s at 8 weeks a strong heartbeat
was detected and was was joyfully graduated to an OBGYN... but now this...She gave me some herbs to take (I refused to take them before; wasn't going to take it that far), and told me it's absolutely essential
Hi - I am very familiar with holistic medicine and have gone to all sorts of practitioners... it is BAD medicine to scare your patient and say they MUST take something... what did she give you to take? If it's simple like raspberry leaf then why was she panicky? DONT WORRY... if she looked at you pulse
and tongue (chinese med) maybe she felt you were just a little out of balance, but that doesn't mean MC. What else did she say?
I was thinking of doing acupuncture to help my TTC (I'm on clomid right now)... glad to know it worked for you, but sad to hear she is frightening you now. Did you ask more questions about her concern?

Thanks, sounds like you're just the person to ask :) She mixed up some herbs in a container so I'm not sure what's in it, but since she knows I don't like those, she gave me capsules to fill out and swallow whole. She said my pulse was really wiry and my tongue really red and cracked, and she kept repeating how it was not good, not good... I mentioned that I started this dry cough yesterday and was worried it was bronchitis, so I don't know if she was suggested by that... Then she did the needles and that was it. You really don't think I need to worry? Thanks :)
Hi,
I would not take the chinese medicines and continue only with acupuncture. Stay as healthy as you can, food, hydration, rest, vitamins and fresh fruits for the vitamin C and Zinc which help the airways and stay away from sick people. Most importantly stay positive. Best wishes !
that is awful for that acupuncturist to say that to you and get you so anxious. I would NOT go back to her. My acu would never do that. if she felt something was wrong she would make suggestions not force me to take herbs. You know your own body... how do you feel? Do you feel like something might be wrong? if not, don't worry about that the accu said.
Thanks :) I feel just fine... I mean tired, sore breasts, starting to feel sick, but I was really feeling like everything was fine... until today. But you guys are right, she probably freaked me out needlessly, so I'll try to relax :)
I also wouldn't go back to her. My first acupuncturist told me (as I was crying over a miscarriage) that if I want to get pregnant too badly it won't happen. I found a new acupuncturist.
We have enough stress w/out other people making it worse.
Try to relax. She may have just meant the cold.
I agree... it sounds like she meant the cold and 'not good' was just her way of expressing it. Is she Chinese? Sometimes things are lost in translation :)
Don't take the mixture of herbs (#1 they won't make your cold just go away #2 could do more harm than good #3 you don't know what they are...never a good idea)!
Don't worry about it at all. If your tongue is red and cracked on the edges it may mean you need more iron...just follow a good prenatal diet and you'll be fine.
GOOD LUCK - I hope to join you in a few weeks!!!
Thanks ladies for your encouraging words. Nshapland, you're right, we certainly have enough stress as it is :) Owlbaby, I was just thinking the same about those herbs, and was definitely not going to take them without consulting with my dr. first. I've only been planning doing the acup. until I get through the 1st trimester, so hopefully, everything will be ok and I won't have to do it anymore in a few weeks. Thanks again! :)
Also- if you're feeling nauseous, that's a good thing. When I was pregnant with my son, I was sooo sick morning, noon and night and my ob said that is a good sign that the baby is healthy.
