I am not a heavy drinker by any means, but I am 27 and live near the water and like to get out for a drink or two after work every now and then, and on the weekends with my husband. I am trying to conceive, and can't seem to get a grasp on how having a drink at all while TTC may affect fertility.
I'm hoping some of you ladies have had your obgyn or doctor tell you something. So, I'd love for anyone to weigh in on what they were told!
Basically, I'm healthy, 27, with a long cycle, trying to conceive first child for about six months now. Some sites say that any drinking AT ALL can cut
your chances of conceiving in HALF. Others have said that the jury is out. Ive heard I should stop during the TWW from some. And some say to stop it altogether for the whole cycle. Some say it doesn't matter because it wouldnt affect a baby until 6 weeks after conception. But what about fertility?
I'm not irresponsible, and I don't want to harm a potential child. However, I also don't want to CHANGE my entire life around TTC and letting it take over my mind as much as it has so far. I want to be able to go out with co-workers for a drink after work here and then, and/or have some drinks with a meal with my husband on the weekends. Obviously, when I finally conceive, I'll cut
From what I have heard they say that when TTC you should treat ur body as pregnant. But I also agree that one cannot put their life on hold and stress out during TTC. If I were you and its taking too long to conv..I'd try taking a few months off from drinking and see if it helps. Try not to drink esp in the TWW.
Good luck
I have been ttc for more than 20yrs now. If I had quit drinking the entire time, I would be stark raving mad, lol. I read a lot. I mean a whole lot about the effects of just about everything. The key it seems for all things is "moderation". There is such thing as too much of a good thing, he he he. But, it is true there is no medical evidence to support any harmful effects from drinking in moderation for the 1st 6wks. There are many studies on it that can be found on Google searches. Heck, back in my mother's day, most women didn't even know they were pregnant until they were 2-3 months along. Hpts weren't available yet.
One of my favorite lines from one of the ladies that is on another forum now (she's had her baby) is "If I'd have known it was going to be my last drink, I would have made it stronger" That is from TankerChic. Words of wisdom. I always make sure mine is stronger now, just in case it IS my last :)
