DH and I have a meeting with my RE on 4/27.  My RE thinks that after 1 IUI (failed) and 1 clomid (on going ) we should try IVF.  Ideally I would rather do naturally but per RE I should try IVF.  I had a HSG , I tube was clearly open and the other was not clear.  I do want to be armed with questions, can you please help, what questions should I aks.  Any advise will be appreciated.  I do have unexplained infertility and I feel so helpless

I can totally relate to your frustration and feelings of helplessness.  Whether you want to go to IVF, depends on your age and the reason you may not be conceiving.  If you are 40+, you may want to consider moving onto to IVF.   Did your clinic do ALL of the fertility testing for BOTH you and your DH?  Does your insurance cover IVF?   I went in for my first fertility consult when I turned 40 and my RE didn't even consider Clomid or IUI, encouraged to go right into IVF.   I passed all my fertility tests although because of my age I probably have egg quality issues.  DH has some sperm motility/mobility issues.  There are no guarantees with IVF though.  I had 3 IVFs so far.  First one, negative beta.  Second one, positive beta but only chemical pregnancy.  Third one, positive beta, miscarried at 9 weeks.  I'm going to try again.  IVF is more invasive than IUI, but I didn't find IVF that uncomfortable.  My insurance covers it, but if insurance didn't cover it, I probably wouldn't do it at all, as there are no guarantees.  Good luck and keep us posted.

I am 35, and I am doing my first IUI next week. If this doesnt work, I may try IUI one more time, but after that I will go for IVF. My personal opinion is that if I know I have some fertility issues, I might as well try IVF sooner than later.
One think you can ask your doc is your FSH abd AMH levels. See if those numbers are good. If for example you have high FSH, then IVF probably increases the chances of pregnancy.
Good luck to you.

Lisa_k66 - I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage.  I had a miscarriage 5 years ago but that was a natural conception.  Since then I was on the pill.  My insurance covers IVF so that helps.  I am 39 years so yes time is not on my side.  IVF is the best way to go as I don't want to lose more time,  I started with acupuncture and so far have done 2 sessions.  My RE pan to start IVF in my next cycle which will be May

Lily - Thank you for your tips.  Your suggestions are helpful and I will ask my RE.  Will keep you updated
