Another Ectopic???

I'm afraid I'm having another ectopic pregnancy.  I just got a positive HPT on Wednesday 7/30.  The first day of my lmp was 7/4.  So I would be around 4wk3days.  On Sunday night I had some spotting and went straight to the ER because I just had and Ectopic pregnancy at the end of March.  I had emergancy surgery my left tube removed and a very big scare, so I'm very nervous this time.  At the ER on Sunday night they did and u/s and the tech thinks he saw something in my tube again and nothing in the utures he said it looked like I was about to have my period.  They did a hcg and it was 403.  Wouldn't that be to early to see anything either way???  I only had a little spotting that night and nothing since.  I went to the doctor yesturday and the did another hcg and it's at 506  that's 100pts in about 16 hours.  I don't have any pain no more bleeding, and I feel preggers.  I didn't feel or even know I was pregnant the last time and the doctor that did my surgery said that I was very heathy and they couldn't tell me why I had the first ectopic no scaring and no infection of any kind.

WOW, I am so sorry. I do think it is too early to see anything right now. What does your Dr say?

She didn't say anything, she was suppost to call me with the resulst and didn't the nurse is the one that told me the other hcg level but couldn't tell me what it means. They want me to take me Methotrexate and I don't want to until they know for sure it's in the tube.  It was a tech that did the u/s so I don't know if I should trust his diagnosis.

Yes, you are right. It is too early to see anything. In an ultrasound you usually need to be 6 weeks at least. To be honest with you the sonographer should not have told you anything of that nature. Point being if she/he is wrong you worried for nothing. This is why only doctors are to make those suggestions. And they don't. You are really early. Was the spotting dark brown or bright red? Many times a woman will spot near the time her period is due. If if was dark brown it is probably old blood. This happened to me.
I also had an ectopic. I have had 5 miscarriages, and one ectopic for sure. However I was treated for 2 ectopics with Methotrexate, a form of chem drug. Now that I am seeing an RE, she tells me she can only confirm on ectopic, because during a D&C they found no tissue. My RE told me the other ectopic could have been a miscarriage, because not seeing anything in the uterus at 5wks is not uncommon.
Be patient, pray, pray and take things real easy. My first miscarriage I found out I was pregnant and then went and played golf all day. My then doctor told me there was nothing I could have done, but I can't help but believe if I had just taken things a little easier things may have worked out.

I agree w/ you. Do not take that until they can prove to you w/o a doubt. In June I was told I had an ectopic pregnancy and they wanted me to take the same thing. But they could not find my baby anywhere and my numbers were still going up. I told the Dr I was not terminating unless I felt threatened or they could prove w/o a doubt it was in my tubes. Never did find the baby, but my numbers did eventualy go down on their own and I bled. I'm glad I let my body do it naturaly. No regrets. It's best for your body and your mind to know you gave your baby every chance. That's what I told my Dr, "As long as my baby wants to fight I will let it" These Drs are too quick to end our pregnancies. You are not far enough along to see anything, and if you are not in pain I would wait. Tell the Dr you want undeniable proof and make them awnser all your questions. Do not let them bully you into anything you don't want to do. Your body will tell you when it is time, if it is. You might have a normal pregnancy and the thing in your tube could be a cyst or something.

Thanks for your prayers, sorry to hear about you troubles.  I hope everything works out for you as well.  The spotting was a bright redish pinkish color. And it only happend that one time.  Thing that really ***** about this is I'm on vacation and they won't let me go home until they know what it is.  I don't really like or trust the medical team here but I don't have a choice.  My hcg levels sounded better but I wasn't sure.

What do you mean they won't let you go home? Are they holding you at the hospital? Where are you?

First - where are you vacationing that they won't let you leave?  I worked in a hospital and we had patients leave on their own will after and before surgery- they can not make you stay where you are.  You ahve the right to leave.

Second- I don't know where you are but the oly person who can give you a diagnosis is a DR.  - that is state law- so whomever this little techie is probably has no clue-and should have told you nothing.  Your doctor should have.

Third- most likely your doctor is going on the assumption that you should take Methotrexate becuase of your past issues.  Human bodies are not text book cases and shouldn't be treated as though they are- even if you have a early miscarriage- which I am hoping you do not- it doesn't matter.  Your doctor should be waiting to see what happens because your HCG level ARE going up NOT down.

Fourth- THIS IS YOUR BODY--- DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING - DO NOT DO ANYTHING THAT YOU DO NOT THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE or DO.....  NEVER-- EVER go against what you think----and I state again- I think you need a different doctor.

I'm live in Hawaii, my husband is Navy and we are on leave in California and they won't let me fly until they know what's going on.  I wish I could be home with drs that would call me back.

They didn't say I COULD NOT leave but they really don't want me to fly.  I don't like the doctors here either I want to go home but even the drs in Hawaii think I shouldn't fly either.  That's what I hate also that they are putting so much weight on what the tech said.  I'm hoping he only saw something because he was looking for it.  Plus if it looked like I was about to have my period then why isn't it hear it's 4 days late and I'm never late.

I C. They don't want you to fly because they are afraid your tube will burst while in the air and you won't get care in time. That I understand, but have you talked to your Dr from home? I think you should call that Dr if you have not already and get their opinion.

I think I would have to discuss a Doctor going on a tech's opinion- granted I know they do because that is what a tech goes to school for BUT a doctor should be able to read an U/S Image also.  They learn that in school.

I would think you would have started bleeding by now and for sure your HCG levels would start going down- or atleast not going up.

Is there not a different Dr or hospital you can go to?  It just doesn't sound right to me.   I just hope it all works out for you.  I would hate for something to happen because of some dumba$$ technician.  I will def. keep you in my prayers.

I just called the drs office and it's closed so the phone was forwarded to her home.  The person that answered the phone was rude and said the drs office was closed and told me to hold on, when the dr got on the phone she said that her nurse was suppost to give me the results...I didn't think she could do that so when I called her she only gave me the number not the rest of the results...I hate it here and am seriously thinking of getting on the plane tomorrow and get back to drs that care!!!  I am aslo rh neg and didn't get my rogam shot until almost 5 days after the last ectopic ruptured, my husband is rh pos so that baby and all of my others will most likely have pos blood, I wanted the results for that test also and the dr said the nurse should have told me.  What kind of dr does that? She is suppost to be an OB/GYN.

The yshould have given you that shot already. I am RH Neg and I always get it right away. I hope for all the best for you. What other test results are you waiting for? Have your numbers gone up?

Hmmm--- no a nurse is not supposed to give you results-- it is against state law.--unless in Ca. the laws are different--

Gosh- you are in such a terrible dilemma but to be honest if it were me- I would get my tush home and especially because you are rh neg-- if you don't take the shot then your body will turn against you.  Maybe that is why you had your last miscarriage--- I know if you have rh blood you need that shot early on so your body doesn't try to harm the fetus.

Please keep me posted and I hope you get home soon.  Sounds like you are in an area where they really don't give a sh&t.

They are going to give me the shot tomorrow I'm not worried about this time I am worried about the ruptured ectopic in March I didn't get the shot until 5 days after it ruptured.  So I wanted the results to see if that's might be something else I have to worry about.  I have had the shot 4 times 3 with my first pregnancy, my daughter has pos blood.  And 1 shot after the ectopic but way after it had already ruptured.  I'm thinking in they can have me wait two days for the test then I can wait 5 hours on the flight home then go to the dr there.

I agree. But yes, get that RH shot. When was you ectopic? I don't think that would effect anything now.

My ectopic was March 31 I dont know if i became rh sensitized after that. Because I got the shot so late after it and because it ruptured the changes that the blood mixed is really high.  I hope not though.

I see what you are saying. OH man. Yeah, that would be a concern. But I think you need to get home and let your DR in Hawaii check all that out, since this stupid Dr has no clue what she is doing.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking!  It's like they don't even care, I knew the hospital wasn't that great but the dr. seems not to care, becasue the are seems to be more of a poor one.  All of my family go to drs out of town, but I thought a dr would do there job, should be the same education, you should get a good dr in a poor or rich area. I can't beleive it!

Take a breath!! The last thing you need right know is more stress. There is probably nothing wrong with you. THe blood was probably normal. I have heard of people having periods during their first month. Plus if you were having an ectopic and the TECH, actually saw something you would be hurting something horrible. Remember our tubes are very thin, if the tech could see something it was too big to be in the tubes. You said you had a ruptured tube. Did they remove the tube? If so it is very unlikely this would happen in your second tube. And if you didn't and it's in the same tube the tech probably saw scarring. If your not bleeding and in alot of pain relax everything is going to be alright, don't let your mind play tricks on you with worry.

I only have one tube left the last one ended up with emergnacy surgery I had over a unit if blood in my abdomin (abdomen).  That's why I am so stressed right now.  I don't have anymore bleeding, it was just spotting that one time but I am very scared.  I am feel preggers and I didn't last time.  I don't think anything is wrong and now I'm really starting to hate that tech and this dr.

Dont hate girl. Enjoy your feeling. There are lots of out here wishing we could feel what your feeling. You will be fine. Like I said the chance you are having another ectopic so close together is not likely. In nine months you will laugh at the thought you were having another ectopic.

I am so sorry about your situation.  It seems like such a crazy mess.  Try to do your best and relaz.  I had an ectopic in Jan. and did not know it was an ectopic until almost 8 weeks when I started having pain.  I had had a hsg test previously and my tubes were open and no scaring was seen.  I went to the RE, they did my blood work up and u/s.  My RE told me you should see a gestational sac by time your hcg numbers reach around 2, 000. My levels were 4,000ish and I had severe pain so we took the shot, but I ended up rupturing a few hours later.    If you hcg is not yet above 2, 000, I WOULD NOT TAKE THE METHATREXATE because there is a good chance the sac could not be seen yet on the u/s (unless you are in pain and know it is an ectopic).  

I am now pg again and was very worried about having another ectopic.  RE told me when I got my BFP the chances of having another ectopic were about 10%.  I don't think that is very high.  Hang in there!

Got my third hcg was at 956 today!!! That means everything look normal right now!  They are going to do another beta quant on Friday to make sure it's still going up like it should.  Once it's ove the 1600 - 2000 mark they will do another u/s to make sure but they aren't as worried anymore.  Now I just have to wait and see about the rh factor.  They will let me know that tomorrow and I get to leave and go home on Tuesday with no worries.  Thanks for all your prayers, they seemend to have worked.  Not all is clear yet so keep your fingers crossed.

That is good to hear. Your numbers are doubling. Try not to worry too much, save your strength for the morning sickness or all the sleep you will need soon. Have you set an appointment with your doctor yet. Maybe you should insist on a immediate appointment. The more the care the better. Make sure you stay on top of getting that shot.

Hi girl...u know what i think everything is going fine for you...stay positive. 4 weeks was infact early for a U/S,...u see nothing in the uterus that early. U will see a little bean only arond week 6. I recently got my BFP...this is my first one but I am reading and I found out that week 6 is the ealiest an US can detect anything...infact my RE said the same thing. Minor spotting is normal throughout pregnancy. Your HCG numbers are going well. Keep praying and stay positive until your next US.
Also witha regular US they can see nothing in your tubes....so i dont know where your radiologist came with the idea that there was somthing in the tube. To chach the tubes they need to do a HSG, which they cannot do if u r pregnany.

I got my next set of HCg numbers yesturday 1759!!  Things seem to be going good now, still not sure yet though.  They don't want me to fly home just yet so they have scheduled another U/S for Monday.  They most likely won't be able to see a fetal pole or heart beat that early but they will be able to see something in the uterus and check on the thing they thought they saw in the tube.  It was a vu/s so they were able to see the tubes somewhat.  Also my rh antibodies test came back negative so I'm really happy about that.  I feel tired, I have to pee all the time and my boobs are starting to get sore.  I haven't had anymore spotting since that night and don't have any pane on my right side, the only tube I have left.  So life is really great for my at this point.  I'll know more when i get the u/s on Monday.  I just want to see something in the uterus I can wait a couple of weeks for the heart beat.

i think you will see something on Monday.  i saw my little pole and heartbeat on the exact day of my 6 week mark.  don;t stress, everything will be ok.  congrats and hopefully you get to go home within the next day or 2.

OK! Went in for my ultrasound today...my hcg levels were 1753 on Friday so they should be around 3500 today, (if they kept going up like they have been).  They preformed a transvaginal ultrasound and found a 6.9 mm developing small fluid sac in the endometrial cavity.  No definite double sac or fetal pole was identified. I should be about 5w3days.  But they also saw a complex mass again in the left adnexa, measuring 2.2 x 2.8 x 3.3 cm.  That's way bigger then what the saw in the uterus.  But the mass in my left tube hasn't gotten any bigger in the past 8 days. They didn't see a fetal pole in that mass either though. Also, they saw a trace amount of free fluid in the cul-de-sac. They thing the mass in the tube is an ectopic pregnancy, but it hasn't grown in a week and my hcg levels were rising like they were suppost to last week. More than doubling every 48 hours. They tell me that I shouldn't fly again for another week but I'm sick of this and want to go home.  Does anyone have any idea what this means, the Dr. wasn't very informative.

Hunny, go home. Go home to your Dr there and let them figure it out. You will be much more comfortable and I'm sure that Dr will give you more information as to what is going on. I know it is scary, but at this point if you are not in pain, then go home. Also did they test your blood again?

I got my results of the Hcg yesturday, 4600 and that is when I did the u/s, I still don't know if it was to early to see the fetal pole or second sac with an hcg of 4600...The Dr. here and my Dr. at home told me I shouldn't fly.  They don't know what the altitude would do and it's a 5 1/2 hr flight over the Ocean so if something went wrong they couldn't land.  I've read many times that 5weeks it to early to see anything but it stilll doesn't make me feel any better.

It is too early. some people don't even see anything @ 6 weeks either. if your Dr at home told you to stay then I would stay. But it sounds to me like your numbers are going up and you still are not having pain or bleeding. Right? So that all sounds good. I don't know what all the other stuff is that they are seeing, but it hasn't gotten any bigger and your numbers are going up. SO I don't think you have an ectopic, but I'm not a DR either. All I can say at this point is I will pray everything goes ok for you, and Good Luck. Please keep me informed, I will wonder about you.
