Any of you suffer from hormonal migrains?

Any of you suffer from hormonal migrains?

Hi, ladies
I was just wondering if any of you ladies suffer from migrains? Most of mine are hormone related, but sometimes the weather can cause them. I used to use prescription medicine, but after my first m/c in 2006, I stopped. I now use extra strength tylenol and caffine. I also use a rubbing oil called a Migra stick. I was just curious what some of the rest of you do. I had my second m/c in April 3rd and am TTC again, so I don't want to put anything in my body that would not be safe to take while pg. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Uhgg!  I used to get migraines SO bad.  I got them when I was on the pill.  Like clockwork I would get one after taking the active pills (right when my estrogen level dropped).  I had them really badly.  I would literally have to go and lay in a dark room and try to go to sleep because other than prescription meds that's all that would help.  Oh and I would put a hot compress on my forehead and that relieved it until I could go to sleep.  Mine got so bad it would make me get physically sick repeatedly!!   That was really fun at work (I was a flight attendant).  There's nothing better than getting sick in an airplane lavatory, YUCK.  Now that I'm ttc I'm off the pill and don't get them anymore but when I was Excedrine Migraine sometimes worked.  Anyway, I feel your pain, they can be unbearable!!!!  :)   Hope you find something that helps you.

I suffer from Migraines, too.  I am 8wks2dys PG, and, like you, I would use Excedrine for Migraines (3 at a time) and about 100 diet cokes to get relief - they are that bad.  However, I can't even think about that now.  So, I do this....

Alternate warm heat and cold at the point of the migraine.  Then sprinkle some pure peppermint oil on a kleenex and a little under my nose - those two things do grant me relief.  Then, I just sleep sleep and sleep on my memory foam pillow - that does the trick.  By the morning, they are usually gone.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

I was told that many women that get migrains don't get them when they are pregnant. It has to do with hormones! But on the same token I have been told that if you don't usually get them you can get them while you are pregnant. My cousin only got them when she was pregnant and a good friend of mine stopped getting them when she was pregnant. Go figure!
