I have PCOS and doctor put me on metformin and I am on it(1500mg per day) past couple of months. I just started the IVF cycle(started pills) and doctor asked me to continue with metformin until I get a positive pregnancy. Is anyone on the same protocol as mine?
Yes .. I am taking Metformin and doing IVF. I am at the stage of IVF that I am going to go to retrieval soon. I was told that I had to take Metformin all the way through my pregnancy. It makes the cysts go away.
Good luck to you! My doctor said she would put me on metformin until i get a positive result.
What was your protocol for the IVF cycle? Were you on pills, lupron ,gonal-f plus all the other tables for medrol etc..?
Wanted to wish both of yall luck! i just got put on 750mgXR twice daily as well, but for IUI.. they say to take it until week 12 of pregnancy from what i've read! GOOD LUCK to both of you! : )
Did you have any side effects because of metformin? Iam on 500mg.. 3 times per day. I take all the there at once in the night. Major side effect I have is diarrhea.
When is the retrieval???
I"m on my last IUI before IVF.. this is my first month of metformin.. my pcos is mild, but we wanted to try absolutely anything before heading to IVF... so far no side effects, but maybe first thing in the morning when i eat i gotta go right away, looser than normal, but nothing too bad.. i'm only taking it once at night now, then starting tomorrow twice daily which will be 1500mg.. Are yall having any side effects yet?
Good luck with your IUI cycle. I started one per day then two and finally three and stayed on it. I get very bad diarrhea every day. And sometimes go to the bathroom any time ...
My PCOS is mild too, had very tiny cysts. In the last scan, there no cysts at all.
I have been on Metformin for many years now (for fertility reasons). I think its the best. I am on my 6th IVF (and I hope it works this time!). One of my fertility doctors took me off metformin for 3 of my ivf tries and the results were much much worse. From everything I have read, it seems that metformin is a safe
medication and you can stay on it all through your pregnancy (unless you have liver issues). The other good news is that its not a new medication and has been around for over 30 years for diabetics
