Thanks so much for the support. No one can prepare you for this kind of pain. We will meet with the IVF team next week and figure it out. I don't have any embies frozen, we only have frozen sperm.
Thanks again for your thoughts! I will keep you posted on what we decide..
Pauline
Oh Pauline, I am so sorry to hear that news. I know it wont take the hurt away, but please know that you are not alone. We all share your sadness, and are around to talk, or to vent if necessary.
Will you be doing IVF again this month?
Sending you giant hugs.
Gigi
hello. I am sorry to say I got a BFN today. We are devastated and really weren't prepared for this pain. I am not sure what we will do next. Best of luck to all of you! You are all such a wonderful group!
Take care,
Pauline
Thanks so much! Today I started spotting but nothing terrible which of course has increased my fears even more. Called the RE who didn't sound too optimistic because "my beta was sooo low". Again- no comfort and a little upset by their negative comments. My beta is tomorrow and I am just hoping for the best! Thanks for the number info and link! Very helpful!!
I will keep you posted tomorrow.
Pauline
I was in the same boat with you on this one.
8/31/09 14 days after retrieval BETA 16
9/3/09 17 days after retrieval BETA 32
9/5/09 19 days after retrieval BETA - 94 (almost tripled!)
9/10/05 BETA 710!
What Ive read is as long as it is higher than 5 you are pregnant. The number does not matter what matters is how it doubles. Supposedly should double every 48-72 hours.
My doctors did not like how mine did (it doubled in 72 hrs). Then it all turned out to be ok. I believe I just had a later implater.
Heres some info I found:
3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal: <9.5 mIU/ml
Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and deliver a perfectly healthy baby. The results on an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers. -what I have read.
Ive been looking online alot and Ive seen peoples numbers jump dramatically higher.
Plus I know now because it happened to me. :)
Look at this site for more info:

this site was so comforting. because I was driving myself crazy with these BETA numbers. Please read.
Also here is another site with some info:

Hope this helps. :)
Very happy to hear the number went up. You will definitely be in my prayers.
Looking forward to hearing good news from you on Friday!
Gigi
hello ladies! Finally got my beta results. It was only 23 but rising so nurse said that is a great sign. They will retest again on Friday but for now I will enjoy being pregnant!!! Please pray for me..
Thanks to all of you for understanding when no one else does..
I will update you on Friday!
Pauline
Stay positive! My beta was only 40 at 14dpiui. My RE told me that it doesn't matter where it starts as long as it increases appropriately. Good luck!
Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you! Please let me know what happens!
Gigi
thanks for your positive feedback! I fell apart this morning at the lab so worried about todays results. I should know by early afternoon and will let you all know. For now just praying! Thanks again.
Hey Pauline, 11 days does seem pretty early. My 1st beta was a 27 which wasn't very high either so I was pretty worried but at my 2nd beta it went up to 89 or something like that so it more than doubled. I am now almost 14 weeks preggers.... Good luck! I was told that the 2nd # is what's most important because they want it to double... Good luck, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
I think you could be just fine too! @ 11 days, thats pretty early, I think if tomorrows beta is around 80 then things are progressing like they should. Speaking from experience, a "good" or "high" number does NOT secure a pg ;( My first beta back in Dec. @ 15 or 16DPO was I think 256 & prog. @ 56, & it ended w/a missed mc. ;0(
Your number has to start somewhere ;) Hope it more than doubles for ya ;););)
Hi. Thanks for your positive take.. I was wrong in saying I am 14 days post transfer. I am only 12 days post transfer and was tested on the 11th day.. I know most clinics wait the 14 days before the beta.. I will stay positive and hope for the best tomorrow!!
Thanks!!
Hi Pauline. My heart goes out to you as you must just be on pins and needles right now.
I have never been through this myself, but you know - everybody's got to start somewhere. Maybe you just have a late implanter. Try to stay positive (easier said than done, I know) lets hope for some good news tomorrow!
Gonna say a little prayer for you tonite,
gigi
