Anyone using Clomid?

My husband and i have been trying for about 6 months now.  I kow that's not considered a long time by a medical standpoint but for those of us trying it is a lifetime.  I've been tracking my period and ovulation for over a year because of a study I was in for PMDD (pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder).  Anyway, I do not have a regular cycle.  I've gone anywhere from a 27 day cycle to this month's record breaking 36 days!!!  My sister-in-law told me about Clomid, a drug prescribed to regulate ovulation.  I have an apt. with my doctor on the 5th to talk to her about this and see if it's something that might be right for me.

Has anyone used this or is using it?  Any advice or opinions on it?

I am on my second month of Clomid.  I started on on 50mg CD 3-7 and this month I was bumped up to 100mg.

My cycles were all over the place as well--my last cycle before starting clomid was 40 days long!  

Last month, after my 1st dose of clomid, my cycle was still 33 days long.  So, I'm not 100% convinced that it totally regulates you, but it definitely helps grow some nice follices on your ovaries!

I would definitely ask your doctor about starting Clomid (I had only been ttc for 3 months when I started it) and I would also ask her about receiving a trigger shot mid-cycle.  Your doctor will probably do a mid-cycle ultrasound to see how large and how many follicles you have produced, and if they are mature enough, she can give you an HCG trigger shot to induce ovulation.

hi there, i have been on clomid 7 months now, first 1 pill a day now for the past 2 or 3 cycles, 2 pills a day. i havent gotten pregnant on it and i am scared because i have heard it will make your lining thin. i have heard a lot of great stuff about Femara, I am worried that the longer im on clomid, the thinner my lining might get and not be able to sustain a pregnancy.

i have cycles from 25 days to 32 the longest so i feel your pain. as her about femara when you go...i would be curious to see what another doctor says. my doc seems to think clomid is fine, but he has been at this longer than i have been living, 32 years, and had never even heard of femara so i feel like he is just sticking with the old....ya know?

he was my mom's doc! lol!! bless his heart.

Due to my age...over 35 , my Gyn. referred me to an RE after 6 months of ttc.  Have you gone through other regular infertility testing---HSG, Post Coital, progesterone levels...etc....  My RE would not even see me until all of this was done first.

My RE will only do Clomid for 3-4 months.   He says if it is going to work it will be during the first three months, then it is time to move on to something else.  It can thin your lining which defeats the purpose...but  I think each Dr. has a different opinion about this.

I ovulated on my own before Clomid, but I was put on it to raise my progesterone and give me a "better quality egg."  This past month we moved on to injectables.

hello there,i'm on my first cycle of clomid 50mg.i have a regular cycle 27-28days but have ttc for over a yr now.i have just obe tube and my dh sa is fine.so my doc just decided to try clomid on i really hope it works.i'm in 2ww.af for is to be on the 28th.i really don't want it to come.

I used clomid because I had early spotting around 10-12 dpo.  Clomid extended my LP.  I was always quite regular though so I am not sure whether clomid made my cycles more regular but they were quite predictable with clomid, including the day I get my positive OPK.  
Typically, your doc would give you clomid if you do not ovulate on your own.  So, your doc may suggest a few tests before recommending clomid. For example, if your lack of success is due to DH clomid will not be much help.  Also, you need to be monitored if you take clomid since it has some side effects like ovarian cysts.  If you had ovarian cysts in the past you should not be taking clomid without doing some tests to figure out of it's worth it.
