BAD MORPHOLOGY???PLEASE HELP

I have severe endo and we are strating our first IVF cycle in March. My boyfriend just got his semen analysis results and they said his count was good but his morphology was average??? what does this mean? has anyone else had this problem? I feel like, how could there be a problem with both of us. I just am upset i thought they were gonna call back to tell me everything was great, and now i feel disappointed. Please help.

Hello.. sorry to hear about this, but especially with IVF morphology is easily overcome.. i also have severe endo with one ovary left.. and we also have really bad morphology- only 2% normal : (      and i have PCOS and LUFS... so plenty of problems for both of us!  anyhow we have been blessed enough to get pregnant by IUI 3 times, when we were told IVF with ICSI was the only way we could get preg.. unfortuantely staying pregnant for me is another  challenge.. however even with IUI and only 2% morph we have at least gotten preg.. with IVF if the morphology is too concernening then they can do ICSI.. however if they said average (which is good!) then regular IVF should do the trick!!! GOOD LUCK! : )

I just wanted to suggest starting him on 1000 mg of vitamin c and a multi vitamin. My DH has SA issues and I did that and his count, morphology and motility improved. Did you ask about ICSI? GL

Thanks guys!! I am praying! I am waiting for a copy of the results.....But i think the number was 6%....so after reading up  I feel a lil better. 6% of 20 million = A LOT!

According to my RE.....morphology is the shape of the sperm.  Every man has crazy looking sperm...hence they check for morphology.   Some sperm are too short or too long, others have two heads, kinked tails, no tails, two tails...etc.   Only about 11% of men's sperm is considered perfect.  

So that was the situation in our case.  My DH had great sperm count, etc, but apparently was borderline for having perfect sperm...something like 7%.  So in our case our RE thought it would be wise to fertilize eggs 50% ISCI and 50% au natural.   For what it's worth more fertilzed au natural....like 93% of the eggs and 75% on the ISCI side.  

So nothing to worry about....all men have crazy sperm!  You should be fine!

I have PCOS and my husband had poor morphology.  We were told that we would have a very low chance of concieving on our own.  So we trusted the doctors and did IVF.  To make a long story short.  After several slides backwards we did FET in November for the first time and got pregnant.  I am currently 14 wks.  It can work out .. Just have faith and think positively.  AS much as every little thing will upset you and it doesn't seem possible that this should be happening to you there can be a happy ending.

Having average morphology in your case is nothing to worry about.
