acid. Now I've heard of women taking 1 baby asprin a day for the first 12 weeks to prevent poss m/c has anyone heard of this?I would like to bring this up at my next visit .I usually have very heavy periods with clots
a day until 12 weeks by the recommendation of my RE. It is usually used if you have unexplained miscarriages in the past but don't show up positive for any clotting disorders after all the testing is done. I wouldn't take anything unless your doctor says it is OK though. I also took an increased amount of folic acid as that also plays some role in the clotting pathway(as well as the neural tube stuff) but I am not exactly sure what it is.
Thanks for your advice I want to get past 12 wks so badly I'm already on the higher dose of folic acid 3 times a day in addition to my prenatal. My numders are doubling which is great but I wont go back until I'm 6 wks for my first ultrasound, is that too late to start the asprin? I'm thinking of calling my R.E and asking him if would be o.k we had discussed the heprin and asprin after my last m/c and he said he would have to discuss it with the high risk o.b I think I need to get an answer sooner than later I don't know how soon it would have to started to be effective.
Thank you so much! This site really helps with the questions we all think of.I'll call the dr.in the morning to discuss it.Did your dr.put you on it before you became pregnant? I've read it supposed to help with implantation
I'm not pregnant yet but I'm taking it. You should take it even when you aren't ttc...it thins your blood. We are at a higher risk for cardiovascular disease b/c of the MTHFR,
I would start taking it...it worked for me...and my doc says you should take it all of the time up to a month before labor...its very healthy for you AND can prevent some types of m/c.
I recently had a miscarriage and was diagnosed with MTHR. We want to continue trying and I'm taking a baby aspirin, 4mg of folic acid per day and a synthetic prenatal vitamim. My doctor did not explain it thouroghly, so of course I'm doing my own research. Does anyone know what the diffence between hetero and homo is? Is this passed down from your Mom, Dad or both? Does folic acid supplements cause problems with bowl movements? I haven't had a normal one for 2 mo, since I've been taking the supplements. My stool looks black like tar and burns when I go or wipe!! Last, should I be getting blood work done to check levels before we start trying again?
