I had my child 9 years ago. Everything was perfect. I have been trying to conceive again on and off for 3 years! My husband and I finally got serious and starting charting ovulation. Still nothing! I had bloodwork done Monday to test my FSH levels. Next, I have to have more blood work to test my Progesterine?? levels. My husband has a order for tests when I am done. I am 37 and feel like I waited too long. My OB/GYN is very positive and has ordered these tests before going any further. Does anyone know what all of this means!!!! I am frustrated.
. Response is between completely normal and somewhat reduced (response varies widely). Overall, a somewhat reduced live birth rate.
12- 15 Reduced ovarian
reserve. Usually show a reduced response to stimulation and some reduction in egg and embryo quality with IVF. Reduced live birth rates on the average.
15 - 20 Generally show a more marked reduction in response to stimulation and usually a further reduction in egg and embryo quality with IVF. Low live birth rates. Antral follicle count a very important consideration.
Over 20 Perhaps a "No go" level in our center. Very poor (or no) response to stimulation. "No go" levels must be individualized for the particular lab assay and IVF center. Antral follicle count a very important consideration.
Your blood tests typically show whether you ovulate. Next your doc will probably check if your tubes are blocked. Male infertility may also be a factor, hence a test for your DH. I hope your doc finds a problem and fixes it. Note that almost any problem these days can be fixed typically with a simple prescription. In my experience, unexplained infertility is the worst. Good luck!
When I first started all the blood work, I found that they are testing your quanitity and quality of eggs. They can tell this by checking to see how well your ovaries are responding to the Follicle Stimulating Hormone that is released from your pituitary gland. When this hormone is released, your ovaries should respond which will cause the pituitary gland to stop releasing the hormone, but if your ovaries don't respond (for what ever reason) the pituitary gland will keep putting out this hormone and your blood level will be high (a menopausal women would have a high FSH). Basically they are just checking if you are a good candidate for infertility treatment. Believe me this is only one step of many to come. I am 40 and I just started my third IVF treatment. I have to say this has been like a roller coaster. I am praying that #3 is the charm, but as you read on this forum you will see that getting a positive preggo test is just another step of many. I pray for patience and a live healthy baby after nine months of pregnancy. Good Luck to you!
