Beta today 169, concerned...

I got my first beta after FET...169.  They said this is a good number - they wanted over 50 - but I'm worried!  I honestly felt really good this morning, like I was going to have twins:  I was so bloated, my breasts were really sore, and I'd seen three hpt's, the line getting darker w/each one.  This afternoon, though - my symptoms really seem to have subsided.

Also, I had the dr run my estrogen levels since I was hoping to go off some of the estrogen pills/patches (I feel like they're killing my embryo(s)).  Well, they went from over 1000 to 500 as of today.  Why would this be?  This is probably why I don't feel as pregnant anymore.

Does anyone know whether this drop off in estrogen is bad?  What about the beta number?  Yes, it's over 50 but is it good or iffy?

THANKS!!

Happynifer, I saw that you had your 30 week appointment.  Congratulations!  And thanks for checking in with the old fertility board to help us out!

you are on estrogen because of the IVF...they suppressed you before your transfer and artificially built up your lining.
i was also on estrogen and progesterone for the first 6 weeks of my pregnancy, although my clinic did not measure either.

people with hig numbers can have one baby, and you can start out lower and have multiples.  so the numbers aren't much indication unfortunately.
you'll know how many at your first scan :)

That beta is more than good. Is great first number. You will be on the estrogen for some time and it doesn't effect your embryo cause is a normal body hormone. Just follow the beta that it doubles everything else will be fine.

That was about the same number as my daughters first beta and she felt no symptoms for a while she now has 8 month old triplets so that number is great.

Thank you for the encouragement!    That's great to hear about your friend with twins.   So mine could be twins, too, right?  Is there a # people usually see who are having twins?  Or a cutoff below which it's not likely to be twins?

Thanks for your quick responses!

Happynifer, this is very interesting (and reassuring!) information...it all makes sense.  But if estrogen is supposed to drop off, do you have any idea why my doctor is having me stay on the estrogen pills?  Also, they didn't seem to like the 50% drop in estrogen levels...

169 is an AWESOME # & y ou should be so pleased with it.  I don't think it is twins as you suggested, but one never knows what can happen

I do know someone that had twins & her #'s went something like this..
104, 339, 962, 2327, 8400

Keep the faith.

your estrogen is not what makes you "feel" pregnant...it's the progesterone.
the estrogen helped mature your follicles (although not needed with a FET), to build your lining and helped your embie(s) to implant but naturally will drop off as the progesterone takes over.
symptoms come and go. some women have zero and have very healthy pregnancies.
if your dr wanted more than 50 and you are 3x that number, then that is great.
the biggest indicator is how the beta is increasing over the next several days.
so hang in there and hope your number doubles every 48-72 hours.
