Birth Control

I am just getting started with fertility treatments and I have a question. I have PCOS and have been irregular with my cycles since I started my period when I was 15.  I have been taking Clomid since April 2009 and have not had any luck.  I first saw the fertility specialist November 12, 2009 and called on the 1st day of my cycle (November 25th). I then went in on the 3rd day and was told my estrogen was too high and therefore they put me on the birthe control pill for this month and was advised to call when I get my next period. I don't understand why I was put on the pill, does anyone know?  The treatment they will be administering is IUI but I am just not sure why I was put on the pill (which I stopped taking 5 years ago).  I appreciate any and all info you can provide!

I was also put back on the pill for a month when we first started fertility treatments and after having an ectopic to help "reset" and "regulate" my body.  Birth controls will also shrink down any cycsts and "old" egg follicles on your ovaries.  I was confused too by being put back on the pill, but after reading other posts, it seems pretty common.

Thank you!   That really helps me understand that part. I got frustrated that I was put back on it.

I just went through IVF, they put you on the pill to regulate you so you are on a cycle they can control...at least that is what I gathered from it - I was on it for five weeks (with no period between doses) - they want all your eggs compressed as much as possible.
