Blighted Ovum twice in a row

Hello . I had two miscarriages (b/o) in the last six months. First was in the month of July 2011 ( 6.5 weeks Pregnant ) and second in Jan 2012 ( 10 Weeks). In both the cases at the time of  u/s we could only see the sac but not the fetal pole. I am really scared to even try for the third time. And doctors are saying that the investigation can be done only after three consecutive miscarriages . I am worried, what if the same thing happens third time also . Please can someone help me to know if this is common and assure me if any one had sucessful pregnancies after two b/o. Please help, as i could just not think anything and just left with one question in mind why this happened to me again?

I am so sorry for your losses .. it does make you question whether you can have success but I know plenty of women in my personal life and on here who had multiple miscarriages to go on to have beautiful perfect babies.

Some of us are just dealt with a bigger hand of bad luck unfortunately!  I am one of them .. I had a loss at 12 weeks June 10 after seeing the hb many times, then a b/o at 7 weeks Dec 10 and another at 9 weeks July 11 .. I am now nearly 12 weeks pregnant with what seems like a healthy baby .. we will know more in a few days but this pregnancy has been a lot stronger than the others .. it is hard to believe that it is actually happening after losses, but you just have to believe that it is bad luck that caused those losses and that you will have proper success soon.

I also did everything I could preconceptionally .. trying to improve my egg health and my DH's sperm even though on paper we looked fine .. it just helped me feeling like I was doing something positive to help matters along

First, the good news: I am currently almost 16 weeks pregnant with what looks like a healthy, normal baby. We've done extensive genetic screening tests, and they have all come back normal on this little one!
I had 2 chemical pregnancies, and 3 miscarriages, all consecutive, in the past two years. I have a daughter who is 6 yrs. old and was conceived very easily (first month of TTC) when I was 36 years old. One of my miscarriages was a blighted ovum. The other two miscarriages were discovered at 7 weeks and 9 weeks with u/s. We saw and heard heartbeats in those two pregnancies. Since we were with an RE, he recommended genetic testing on those two miscarriages (we didn't have to wait until after 3 miscarriages to test). The first was due (most likely) to a random defect in DH's sperm which caused a chromosomal defect. The second was due to a chromosomal defect that was probably related to my declining egg quality (I was 42 yrs old).
It was hard to keep trying after repeated losses, but we did persevere. One month after my last miscarriage, we conceived again with this healthy little one! Don't give up yet! Are you seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist? I would try and meet with an RE, if you haven't yet. They can suggest tests, as well as treatments. Regular OB/Gyns just don't have the time or training to help women who need extra help to carry a baby to term.

the fact that you can conceive is a good sign.

I had my daughter at 38 without any difficulty.  Started trying for No. 2 when my duaghter was 6 months old.  When she was 1 year old started fertility treatments.  I had 6 IUIs.  From that I had 2 miscarriages, one very early and one at 7 weeks.  I also had one natural pregnancy in that time where I saw a heartbeat, but then no more heartbeat at 10 weeks.

Did basic testing, with nothing found.  Was put down to my age.  Now 41.

The 6th IUI I got pregnant again.  I am now 33 weeks with what appears to be a very healthy baby girl.

Just saying, don't give up too easily.  If you want a child it may not be so easy but I reckon you've got to give it your best shot.

Hello Ladies.Thanks for your post. First congratulations to all of you and my good wishes are with you.

After reading all the post, i am really feeling better and encourging to know so many of us have had successful pregnancies after repeated losses.
My DH has been very encouraging in this difficult time and we have decided to meet OBGYN to see if any test is needed ( Chormosonal test).
