Bloated after IVF is this normal????

Ok so I know some bloating is normal due to the inlarged ovaries, but I am now 8dp5dt and am still extremely bloated. I look 5 months pregnant. I did take an HPT and in come up positive but I haven't had beta yet. When do you think I should expect the bloating to go down?????? By the way I have only gained maybe 2 pounds.

I know how u feel, I was bloated for about 2 wks and looked like 3-4 months pg. Did you have a fresh IVF transfer?

Yes this was my first IVF cycle and first time on stimulation drugs besides clomid. I had 13 follicles retrieved. I would understand if the bloating was just in my ovaries but the bloating goes all the way up to my chest. My hole belly is firm and fully distended.

Congrats on your BFP!!!  Bloating, occurs due to hyperstimulation. Usually it occurs after egg retrieval. But some time it happens after the transfer. That's actually a good sign(that's what my doctor said), because there is HCG now and it is confirmed that its BFP. I got bloated after  8th day of 3 day transfer. I did a HPT and got a BFP..:). My bloating got worse by day 12, I gained almost 18 pounds in two weeks.   After two weeks I slowly started loosing all the fluid retention in abdomen area.

Do inform your doctor about your bloating. Drink lots of fluid to keep yourself hydrated, my doctor recommended Gatorade. If you are hyperstimulated, they monitor you closely. Check your weight everyday. If  you are gaining more than 2 pounds in a day it is hyperstimulation.

I am not trying to scare you, but just wanted you be informed.. :) By the way, your baby will be safe...Take care.. Good luck!!!

I am bloated badly too!  I am having to wear maternity clothes.  I've gained about 4-5 pounds.  My swelling goes up past my belly button.  I look at least 5 months pregnant.  Maria certainly sounds well informed (from experience!).  That's a lot of water weight, 18 pounds.  I wonder if they had to drain any off of her?  I am 2dp5dt and I seem to be gaining about a pound a day for the past 4 days.  My was instructed to call if I gain more than 5 pounds in a 24 hour period but if I keep gaining a pound a day I'm going to have to call after another week.  I'm drinking water like crazy, 3 liters per day.  Good luck to you.

I bloated to to the point that people asked me when I was due!  I was like ... ah jeez... whatever... and just told them the story... that I was giong through IVF.  Tried to hide out and veg out at home.  Took me quite awhile to lose the belly but the nurse told me it takes about 18 days.  Remember, there's NO vanity in ivf... lol.  Good idea to express your concerns to your dr/nurse though.

Thank you everyone for your input......I will say something to the nurse on Friday about my bloating and everyone noticed my stomach today at work its embarrasing. I am going to a different office this friday fo my beta so I won't know the nurses but hopefully they could put a note in my chart. This bloating needs to go away soon, I am so uncomfortable.

Did anyone also experience swollen and tender breasts alonside severe bloating post embryo transfer? Pls I'm really desperate for answers.  I'm due for the BPT tomorrow and really anxious.  I've done the HPT though and it's positive but I've read so much about HCG from all the meds showing through.  I'll appreciate any clues, opinions pls.  This is my first time.

Hi, you posted on an old board but CONGRATS too you on your BFP! Do not stress, you have went this long, what is one more day?????? I test on wed and will not know until thurs afternoon. CONGRATS on your BFP!!!!!! I had my HCG test 5/12 and also received a BFP now Im waiting for Wend to go back for my third HCG test. Praying my numbers keep rising. Well my boobs hurt so much and if you look at me I look like im 4 to 5 mths pregnant. Im soooo bloated. I only gained about 4 pounds so far but I dont know if my bloating will come down. But I really dont care as long as my baby is doing find. Good luck to you and keep me posted on your results....

Thanks Sylvia and looking for a blessing for your replies.  The blood tests came out positive, I'm still trying to accept the fact that I am preggers!!

Still have bad cramping but the bloated tummy thing is reduced a bit.  Sometimes I'm worried AF is on the way but get clean tissues when I clean after weeing (thank God).

I am one week past my frozen embryo transfer, I had some cramping on day 2-4 but not much now. I just seem a tiny bloated below my belly button. I hope everything is going ok and I get a positive test next thursday!

Hey well Im still bloated but I think it came down cause I can were my jeans now. Cant button them but I can wear them at least. Well I got my result yesterday its very good HCG 3803 I was really surprise. Now I believe its the hard part the waiting for the ultrasound it on tuesday so a few more days...

I am the same way everytime I pee I worry how that tissue will be because Im using a cream called CRINONE and it feels like my period sometime when it slips out. But I dont have cramps no more but you now what is weird I cant fart (funny). I have to walk and walk and walk couse my stomach hurts. Its soo funny to me but sorry if to much info.

Well what was your HCG results? How many embryos did you tranfer? Keep me posted .. GOOD LUCK.

Is there anything I shouldnt eat while this bloating is occurring? Its all the way up to my chest and I fell like I am 9 mos pregnant?
