Bowel movement and embryo implantation

Does straining because of constipation affect the embryo's ability to implant? I had day 2 ET on Mon morning and strained excessively on Mon night. Whilst other members have advised that the embryos cannot fall out because of straining, how does straining impact on implantation?

This could be good news! Usually, a brownish/pink discharge/spotting indicates implantation :-) Hope all goes well for you, let me know how it goes. All the best x

Did u have an ET? If so, how many days ago? The meds can really affect you and Progesterone can delay AF. On the other hand, you could be pregnant, but you would only know once the embryo has implanted. I wouldn't rely on HPTs though, as they can give a false reading if various drugs are being taken. Best to have it checked out at your clinic or wait 10-14 days after the transfer/conception.
Good luck!

Helen thanks for the reassurance.
Yamy - I think the constipation is a common side effect of the progesterone I am taking in pessary form.  The drugs can cause false readings and it may still be a little early to tell, so good luck.
I had more trouble with bowel movements an hour ago and just tried to strain less. Drinking warm water before going to the loo may help - that's what I did today and it was a lot better than Monday night!
Looking at where the uterus is situated though in relation to the rectum and bladder, it is a lot higher up, so shouldn't be affected when holding embryos. Plus the cervix I have been told acts like a plug, so good can go in (sperm), but doesn't fall out.

I was wondering the same thing I am constipated because of the prenatal vitamins...I had a 5 day blast transfer done on Fri.  and almost every other day I am having trouble when  I try to go to the bathroom....I broke down and did a hpt yesterday to make sure the meds are out of my system...and yes I got a BFN...How are you holding up...

Please do not worry.  Implantation will not be affected.

Good luck!
