Broken Embryo Container

Hello - I had two embryos frozen and when going in for an FET, we were told that one of the embryos was not "recovered."  Basically, the center indicated that the container that the embryo had been placed in had cracked during the freezing/thawing process thereby allowng the embryo to escape.  We were told that this happened in 5 to 10% of embryos that had reached the blastocyst stage.  Anyone ever heard of this?  This was news to us.  Any thoughts would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Never did IVF but this sounds like their fault to me. Sorry about that. I hope the one that remained is the winner and that all turns out well.

I have never heard of this - I have heard of embryos not making it through the thawing process - but this is probably a human error, so they should fess up to that... I know we signed many "Waiver of liability" documents when we had our embryos frozen and I am sure human error was one of the issues that the clinic protected themselves from in these documents.  But, they should admit to this mistake.  I am sorry this happened to you...  I am sure I would be pretty upset if this happened to me, but unfortunately I am sure this kind of thing happens in every clinic...   Good Luck with your FET.
