Chances at 45yrs and fsh 14.5??

Hi lovely ladies, just wondering if any other ladies out there managed to get pregnant at 45+ with fsh of 14.5?? To make things harder husband is having a micro surgery reversal (20 odd years later) with a 50/50 chance of sucess. Am feeling bit hopeless but a chance is a chance in my book, would love to hear any similar stories! Xx

"besides its not over until you see your repo parts in a jar on your no longer on solid foods which ever comes first "
Lol that made me laugh thank you! ;-) thats SO encouraging to hear you have a healthy baby boy - congratulations! I dont want to use donor eggs either (although it is every woman's very personal decision as you say) so hopefully I still have a few left in me that will work. You have given me fresh hope thanks so much for sharing. Reversal op for hubbie is in 3 weeks so that will be hurdle one over (or dashed - we find out on the day if it works or not-gulp ). Keep your fingers crossed for us! xx

Hey tanda:)
12 weeks in two days!!!
PMDD - premenstrual dysphoric disorder- SEVERE crazy pms. they use antidepressants to treat normally but that didnt work very well on me.
I took zinc, C, magnesium (for stress and sleep), fish oil ( pure molecularly distilled) as basic supplements. also took for about 6months, turmeric,  st marys thistle,  probiotics, broccoli sprouts, n-acetylcystiene to detoxify my body. I had most likely some xenoestrogens messing w my hormones and also tested for a bit of heavy metals. once that was done I started my prenatals vitamins:) Stress less as in chinese medicine stress affects ur liver quite often and liver is needed for detoxifixation. I'm a naturopathic health practitioner btw... but for 1 year got a functional/ integrative GP to give me her opinion, in case I was missing anything.  Also been having acupuncture :) oh n filter ur water.... in western australia, we have a lot of copper in our tap water, which lead to high copper that can block action of zinc which is imperative in the reproductive system. sorry for all the nerdy talk:) oh n I also corrected my vit d:)

Fantastic news congratulations! forgive my ignorance but what is PMDD? Im new to all this despite my advanced age!! ;-)
I've never had my ovaries scanned, Im wondering if I should book an intra-uterine scan just to check that everything is as it should be. Was there any specific supplement you took or just everyday vitamin/mineral supplement?
We eat mainly fresh food cooked from scratch but like the idea of organic meat and we dont eat a whole lot of whole foods so think a diet rethink is in order. Good luck with the pregnancy :-)

Hi ladies,
I'm only 34 but have had some hormonal issues all my life. Never had a normal happy healthy period. daignosed with PMDD, low progesterone and enlarged cystic ovaries. Diet, lifestyle (reduce stress) and supplements helped me a lot.  cut out all processed sugar, minimised processed foods with preservatives and additives. Ate a whole lot of whole foods as much as possible.  vegetables,  fruits and grass fed, free range and/ or organic meat  where possible.  my cysts shrunk to a normalish size last year.... still covered in cysts but them shrinking was a really good sign. pregnant now almost 11 weeks:) supplements too are really important.... correct any insufficiencies... low vit d can really affect hormone levels. if you want to pm me ur emails id be happy to email you some evidence based info on this:)

thanks so much for your reply I was beginning to think I was the only one! We are going to try naturally, we have been trying to save enough money for IVF for years but have been struggling to raise the money (as he had a vasectomy years ago in a previous marriage). He then found a clinic up North who do a new micro surgery reversal procedure and its 1/4 the price of IVF so we're giving it a go!
What is DHEA?  Thats really great about your friend, what supplements do you both take? I was thinking about starting on standard pre natal vitamins (surgery is early May this year)  but would love to hear any other recommendations! I will try anything if it increases our chances.
Apparently we should know on the day of the surgery whether it is successful or not and then all being good have to wait few weeks for sperm to get through so should know then about sperm levels.
Re, your diet is that mainly eating healthily or avoiding any certain foods?
thanks so much for your reply it really has encouraged me :-)

Hi tanda2015,

I just turned 46 and I'm trying for my second.  I have a 5 year old bio son.  I agree with you completely, a chance is a chance!  Are you planning on IVF or natural?   I conceived my son via IVF.  I have been doing IVF for some time and I learned that for me it's extremely important to take supplements and watch my diet closely.  I truly think it's extremely important.  Did you look at DHEA?  I think it decreases high FSH but I'm no expert.  I do take it though.  Maybe it's something you should look at and see what you think.

I have a friend who has been TTC for 6 years, unsuccessfully, she is now 42 and finally decided to faithfully take her supplements and watch her diet consistently every day.  Her last cycle failed but one month later she was pregnant naturally.  She is now 12 weeks and doing great!

Also, remember, not long ago women were more regularly getting pregnant naturally in their mid to late 40s so it's very possible.  I'm not sure why this doesn't seem to happen as much anymore these days.  Maybe it's the chemicals around us, stress levels, birth control, more hormonal problems, who knows?  But I always say if it happened to others it can happen to me.

My husband is on Clomid to increase testosterone and improve sperm levels and it works for him.

I hope this gives you some encouragement and lets you know you're not the only one.  :)

I hope you will keep posting your progress, it always encourages me.
