I am 29 years old, very healthy, have normal body weight, but have irregular periods (around 50-60 days apart) . I was on the BCP for 11 years, and went off in August. My husband and I started TTC in January. My doctor started me on Clomid (50 mg). I did ovulate during the first round of Clomid on the 13th day after the last pill, but did not become pregnant. (I took the pills on days 5-9 of my cycle). To get my period again, my doctor gave me Provera. I did not get my period until 12 days after the last Provera pill. So, I started the 2nd round of Clomid (50 mg) and have been using an OPK (clearblue easy monitor). It has displayed 13 High Fertility days, but no ovulation yet. My last Clomid pill was on February 25th. Is this normal? Everything I am reading says that you are supposed to ovulate 5-10 after the last Clomid pill, so I am assuming something is wrong. I have had bloodwork 2 times and all of the tests came back normal.
I have lots of questions: What could be the possible cause of not ovulating on Clomid, should I seek additional help, should I try methods other than Clomid, should I up the dosage of Clomid, should I get other tests done....if so, what tests?
Thank you SO much for your help. I look forward to hearing
I'm not sure about why you wouldn't ovulate on clomid, but I thought clomid wasn't neccessarily to make you ovulate, but to develop nice, mature follicles
. I always had to take a trigger shot of HCG at cycle day 12, and that forces ovulation about 2 days later.
Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about getting a trigger shot so you can be more "timed" about it? The trigger shot isn't expensive and shouldn't hurt.
and will have a trigger shot tonight and then IUI on Wednesday.
In your case, you might not Ovulate on Clomid 50 so you will need a higher dosage. It s not that bad as long as your lining is thin. And even if it is not, they have additional meds to help you out.
So talk to your doctor, have a progesterone bloodwork to check out and then for the next cycle, if your doc prescribes, take a higher dosage of Clomid-hopefully you will O on that dosage!
Good luck!
Anya.
