For this next cycle, my Clomid is getting increased from 100 mg to 150. I don't mind this, but I just don't know what the increase is supposed to do differently? Does it increase the number of eggs, or..?? I take it days 5-9. Background is I'm 39, ttc for 10 months. I ovulate on my own, always have. Was put on 50 mg Clomid for 2 months, upped to 100 mg for 2 months, and now upping to 150. Will have my 2nd IUI this cycle.
Thanks for any insight.
I did ovulate at 100. And I ovulated at 50. And I ovulated without Clomid at all! The lowest my Progesterone has ever been was 6.9, I think, (unmedicated), which, as I understand it, is not all that great but indicates ovulation. But I always just figured the Clomid was my little insurance policy ;)
And congratulations to you Tina! I hadn't posted congratulations before, because I don't post that much and feel I am not that well known on this site. But you've helped with my questions in the past, and I sincerely wish you all the best.
That does indicate some ovulatory activity, but not as strong as they like to see from what I gather. Do you know what it was at 100? It sounds like he/she is looking for a very strong o with multiple mature follicles
Originally, my ob-gyn put me on Clomid because when she did the day 21 Progesterone test, it came back 8.9 which she said meant I wasn't ovulating. So she put me on 50 mg Clomid. I was confused, because I had always had positive opk tests, and very regular menstrual cycles. Immediately following that, I was referred to a specialist, and the told me any Progesterone level over 5 meant I ovulated, although he wanted to see it above 10, and that he does not see pregnancies with Progesterone levels where mine were. I feel like I'm running out of time, so any help I can get to move the process along is ok by me. Both DH and I have had several tests, and so far nothing is wrong with either of us, so I guess Clomid is just the next step in the process.
I hope that helps.
Progesterone was at it's highest so far on 100 mg Clomid, at 23.
Surge on day 17. I am 37 and have been ttc for 1.5 years. My prog. test was 11.6 several months back. Both my gyn. and my Fert. Specialist (who I have not met yet...appt is not for another month) suggested I do Clomid this month. Supposedly, I am taking Clomid to ensure a "better" egg. I go in for a blood test 7 days following O to see if my prog. has risen to where they want it.
Just curious, if you are ovulating on your own, what was the reasoning for you going on Clomid. I have gone on several forums and have been discouraged....I even had a Dr. tell me to reconsider the Clomid due to my numbers and ovulating.
HELP!!!!!
Thanks for your info. We seem to be in the same boat. Everywhere else I have looked has not been encouraging due to my "normal" numbers. I guess due to my age (37) and the amount of time we have been trying (1.5yr), both of my Dr.'s decided to try the Clomid. I go next week for a post op. visit and will have several more questions. I am not getting any tests during this month except for the 7 days after ovulation to check my numbers--Of course, this is about all my Gyn. will do...He wants me to see the Fert. Spec. for further information/tests/treatments. As I mentioned above, I cannot get in to see him until the end of next month. All of the other information I have been reading mentions going in on Day 3......along with a few other times. I guess if nothing happens between now and next month, my fert. spec. will start all of those tests.
I have had to really educate myself...and fast since we have started the meds.
