Clomid for Sperm Count

I am a male 31 years old in relatively good health. My wife and I are trying to conceive for over a year now. We both visited our doctors. Her OBGYN did tests and said she was fine. I visited a Urologist and he suggested i go in for a semen analysis. the results came back this week and he mentioned to that i have low volume of 1.6ml. the sperm count was 6.2 mn per ml and they were on the low normal side. he has prescribed Clomid 100mg tablets for 3 months. Is that a right drug to be taken. I did a google search on this and it was given mostly to women. So i am anxious about this and would appreciate all help that can be provided to us.
Thanks

I would try seeing an acupuncturist for this.... there has been studies done on male infertility and acupuncture increasing sperm counts :) I would try this before taking a 100mg of Clomid. The highest I was ever prescibed of clomid was 50mg and I'm a woman!!! The side effects weren't that great either....

My DH is currently taking Clomid. He was prescribed 50 mg a day for 3 months. He started having side effects so now it's everyother day. He did a SA today. It's only been 2 months, but if his SA hasn't changed at all there taking him off of it. So I can let you know on 08/07 if it's helped at all. There is a girl on this forums whose DH was takign clomid and they got pregnant naturally. So good luck! :)

My DH was prescribed Clomid for similar reasons.  I also know another woman on this forum whose husband was prescribed Clomid.  Both my DH and her husband are now going off of the Clomid for the side effects (moodiness, vision issues) - so I might check into other alternatives.  Your dosage seems a bit high - my DH was on 25 mg.  Most women are first on 50 mg.  Clomid does not start to take effect for 3 mos.  There is not much info out there on this, so it is frustrating.

My DH has now been prescribed Arimidex.  He had some past success with his count using this.  You might want to ask your urologist about some alternatives.

Good luck!

I have heard of men taking it before!  Actually, it is something I'm looking into because my husband has issues with this as well.  Sorry, that is all I know. Good luck to you two.
