My husband and I have been TTC for 3 months.  We are both in our mid 20's and this will be our first child.  I have noticed while using OPKs the past two months that I ovulate very late resulting in a very short, like 7 days, luteal phase.  I read that Clomid is the medication prescribed for this issue.  On my preconception check up my doctor told me to come back in 9 months if I had not conceived but since I am noticing a short luteal phase should I make an appointment?

Last year, I did 2 months of 50 mg, no ovulation, 1 month of 100 mg, no ovulation,  1 month of 150 mg, unsure of ovulation, another month of 150 mg plus some shots, I ovulated, but didn't get pregnant.  I was fed up, so took a break until January of this year, started at 50 mg again, got pregnant with my triplets.  Crazy!

At first I was taking it on CD 5-9, but my doctor changed it to CD 3-7.  I honestly can't remember which it was when I got pregnant!

As you all know (lol!), I am pg with twins.  I got pg on 100 mg of Clomid w/IUI. They didn't do hcg trigger b/c I already surged.  I got pg with my son on 50 mg of Clomid 2 months after ovarian drilling 4 1/2 years ago.  I got pg (accident) in Feb 06 and m/c at 6 wks in March 06.  Started ttc immediately and after confirmed irregular ovulation (some months did, others didn't), my dr. finally put me on 50 mg of Clomid days 6-10 in Aug/Sept 06.  First month, progesterone was 24 but nothing, second and third months of 50 mg it was b/n 5-7.  Dr. wanted me to take a month off so I switched drs. (I was fed up!)  She put me on 100 mg days 5-9 and I o'd, but nothing.  Went to 150 mg, didn't O. Took a month off.  Then 2 more cycles of 150 mg.  I o'd but BFN.  Went to RE, took 100 mg days 3-7 and bam, pg with twins!

Good luck!

I posted on the maternal forum because I know several women over there that are pg with multiples and used clomid. I invited them over to our clomid chat. Not all the women over there come over here, too. I would love to hear the success clomid stories and the multiple link. I think there are as many multiples now as singles. Is clomid the common factor?

sorry, no clomid for me girls. my doctor just assumed i had somehow been on it when we had our first ultrasound at 5 weeks and 1 day to find 2 sacks.he said that almost every case of twins or higher multiples that he has seen in ten years has been linked to fertility drugs, especially clomid. i wish i could be more help.

i did read a study. not sure of the accuracy but it linked consumption of yams in a tribe in Africa, i think, to a high rate of multiples.

you can google  Yoruba twins.

I was on 50 mg. of Clomid and got pregnant with triplets.   It was a surprise because previously I'd been up to 150 mg. and still wasn't ovulating.  I took a break, then started up with 50 mg again and got pregnant right away!
