Clomid

I was wondering...after having bloodwork, hsg, charting my bbt and hubby having been checked as well..everything has come back 'normal' . I get my periods every month, but not always at the same time. according to my dr. and my bbt chart, i dont always ovulate. I will be starting clomid today ( i have enough for 2 cycles) (100g) and was wondering what are the chances of it working for the first month if everything else is normal? I looked for success rates online but every site says something different...THANKS..janine

As i said it hasnt been proved because its just you know hormonal medication to induce eggs to be produced. so sometimes when eggs are produced your might end up producing faulty egg which has genetic problems and before you know it you have a MC. but its not always the same case. you have MANY MANY other problems such as Me myself have PCOS so i get irregular periods so even if i get pregnant i more likely to end up in MC. then age is a factor, thyroid, diabetes etc and blood clotting etc. so its not always medication even people who ovulate themselves end up having faulty egg.

Don't worry you will be fine. MC something in hands of GOD if it happens there's nothing any one can do. but i am hoping every one will be fine and have a healthy baby.

Im not sure why he started me on 100mg..different strokes for different folks i guess lol  Everywhere i read about women taking serophene or clomid , it always says that it does not cause miscarriages in women any more so than if a woman conveived without the drug..but soooo many women on here seem to mc after conceiving with it :S  Coincidence? Soooo confusing and sad :(. Sorry to hear laides, i hope u get pregnant quickly and with a healthy bouncing baby!

Oh did i write somewhere it was 50 mg? it is 100mg..he just started me out on 100mg..and this will be the last day today for my first round of it..sorry! I already did have tons of bloodwork done over the summer...had my day 21 progesterone checked, hormone levels, thyroid, pcos..all that came back normal..which i dont get..something must be off if i dont ovulate all of the time..unless it was a fluke that the few times i had my progesterone checked i ovulated those mths? Who knows!   |Are u currently trying to conceive as well?

i am sure you will be fine. i did say i did not mean to scare you the reason why i talked about MC is because mostly women whom i met ended up in MC. There are many factors because clomid is to induce ovulation and its only hormonal sometimes it produce eggs which are not strong enough and end up causing MC. but there many other things such as PCOS other infertility involve in unsuccessful pregnancies.

its good you are getting blood test done it will not only show that you ovulated but its good for future reference too. you will know that you have no hormonal issues. low progesterone shown in blood test means you are not producing enough hormones either.

i am sure you will get good results. i am just wondering why did they put you on 100mg then 50mg? they always start from lowest to highest. because if your body does not response to 50mg then they prescribe highest dose. you should always ask doctors such questions it helps you understand problems :)

hey..lots of info! OMG, it's so confusing :S  I was told that after3-6 mths of using clomid its not recommended for further use..without a few mths break in between at least. Also,  everyone so far i have talked to that i personally know and mos tof what i have read said there is no link to miscarriages and clomid (or serophene in my case) no more than having a miscarriage without being on anything anyway! Like u say though..everyone is different! Today is my last day of serophene (cd7) and on cd 21 i go for bloodtest (progesterone ) to see if it helped me ovulate. Sometimes i do and sometimes i don't, so im thinking this will help me the first round for sure to ovulate..whether or not it will help me conceive first round..not sure..doesnt seem like it with the luck (or lack of) i've been having! Staying hopeful and positive though!

Clomid has success rate of 20-25%. :) its medication only to induce ovulation. half of which end up in MC at first round. (i have no meaning of scaring you) .
IT depend on your body. every women is different and react differently to Hormonal medications such as clomid. having sex every second day after AF gives you good chance to conceive and also depends on how good your progestrone and estrogen levels are.
with me it worked on 6 th round and ended up in MC in second month. My doctor told me maximum you can use clomid is 12 months. not more than that. that is if you had success with clomid before. :)
make sure to ask doctor to monitor your progress through transvaginal scan to see whether you are reacting to medication or no. its kind of peace of mind for you because then you will know when you are ovulating and how many follicles your body is making.

i hope i helped.
