Clomid...trigger?....iui

Clomid...trigger?....iui

Just wanting some feedback on Clomid.  Does anyone have any success stories?  Did you do Clomid with or without trigger?  Did your insurance cover any of it?  Did they do u/s prior to Clomid?  Do they usually only let you do six cycles?  Any new would help.  Thanks!!

I've had three IUIs.  The first IUI, I was on clomid and hcg trigger.  I got pg but it didnt' work out.  The second IUI, I was on clomid and hcg trigger.  I did get pg but my chances were really slim because the follices were on the side that doesn't have a fallopian tube.  The third IUI, I did not take clomid but still did hcg trigger and got pg. I'm now 34wks pg.

I ovulate on my own but had unexplained infertility.  Since I ovulate on my own, my dr only had me on a very low dose of clomid.  The most I ever took was 25mg which is half of the lowest dosage.

A typical cycle went like this.
Ultrasound prior to cd5 to verify no cysts or residual follicles from previous cycle.
Clomid cd 5-9
Ultra sound on cd12
Hcg trigger shot at 11pm on cd12
IUI at 11am on cd14 (36 hours between shot and IUI)

Hope this helps.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Best of luck to you.

I just noticed a typo.  I said on the second IUI, I did get pg, but what i meant to say was on the second IUI, I did "not" get pg.

Thanks for the info.  Did they ever discuss doing Clomid and trigger without doing IUI?  I don't have very much CM to begin with and I've heard Clomid makes it worse.  I've been using pre-seed.  I know this is kind of personal...but...about how much a cycle did the Clomid, trigger, IUI and all the dr's appt's and u/s cost?  What kind of insurance did you have?

Clomid can dry up your cm.  It has been a while back but there used to be several women on here that got pg using pre-seed.

I have blue cross blue shield federal.  It doesn't pay for IUI but it does pay for all the dr appointments, ultrasounds, meds, and testing so all I had to pay for was the actual cost of the IUI and the sperm wash which was $300 each time.

We did do clomid and hcg trigger a couple of times without IUI, but the reason for that was because of scheduling conflicts. Once it landed on Christmas and I can't remember why the other time.  Since I was ovulating on my own, using clomid without IUI really didn't offer me much advantage.  He said the reason for giving me clomid was to help regulate my cycle and better time the IUI.  Like I mentioned before, it was a very low dosage. It also usually gave me an extra follicle.

Clomid and hcg trigger are pretty affordable.  Aside from the IUI and sperm wash, I think the major cost is going to be ultrasounds and maybe blood tests depending on how many he/she does.

With unexplained fertility it may take several cycles before you are able to get pregnant.  Also, some women end up having to use injectibles for follicle stimulation, which seems to be more effective but also more $$$.

I am on clomid (50 mg) cd5-9 and doing hcg trigger and IUI maybe IUI.
What exactly does the Hcg trigger do?  Does it help mature the follicles or does is simply trigger ovulation in 36 hours.  My doc says I will probably do the hcg shot Thursday then come in on Friday evening for IUI but that is not a 36 hour wait i am reading about above?  Should I ask him to wait 36 hours after the trigger to do the iui?  He did say we can do a weekend appt if need be.  I just don't want to do the iui too soon... Right?

There is a lot of opinions out there on timing the IUIs.  If you search the Fertility Friend database you will see a lot of women who ended up getting pg by doing back to back IUIs.  In other words, IUI at 12 & 36 or 24 & 48.  The hcg triggers ovulation so that the follicles will release.  Talk to your dr about the timing and your concerns.  I'd also post a message in the pregnancy forum on timing and IUIs.  That would get you some responses from women who were successful with IUIs and pregnancy and what worked for them.  GOOD LUCK!

I took clomid for 3 months without a trigger I ovulated but no pregnancies. I am now going to start clomid again with a trigger and IUI. I have pcos so my RE also put me on Metformin to help the follies grow. Before I start the clomid the Re will do a basline ultrasound on CD2-3 and then again on CD12 and 14. Has your DH had a semen analysis because that could be why your not getting pregnant. Also yes the clomid drys your CM so use mucinex daily CD9-ovulation and pressed helps too. However IUI is the best option to bypass the CM altogether. I switched my insurance to Humana HMO which covers all infertility 100% no top out. The best thing to do is call your insurance company to see what they cover. Clomid is fairly cheap $50 without insurance and IUI is around $300. Not sure how much the trigger is.....

I just started my second round of Clomid. The doctor started me on 50 mg and I did ovulate and my levels were really high. My pregesterone was 58, but I didn't get pregnant. I am on day 3 of my 2nd month of Clomid. I really hope it works this time. Good luck to you.

I took Clomid days 5-9 then had a ultrasound, Foliclies looked great  I large 2.73cm. I was given my HCG Trigger shot the same day. Back in the next morning for my IUI. I'm now on day 11 past insemination. So scared it won't work again. First time I got inseminated i didn't use Clomid or HCG. So praying this time I do concieve (conceive). Anyone have a first time with Clomid 50mg , Hcg Trigger shot & IUI success stories. Praying in Ohio.
